I'd give 0 stars if it was allowed.
Let's start off, they seem friendly. A waitress brings a bottle of mineral water to your table, opens the water as you can hear the seal break and sets it on your table.... Says nothing.
Later she comes by and asks if we going to be using it, I said maybe and my sister asked if it was free. She said no - it's 7 euros!
Next, our waiter comes by and drops off a bread basket - 4 slices of thick dry stale bread and 2 wrapped packages of bread sticks. I only ate 1 piece and my sister ate the bread sticks.......when we get the bill they charged us 4 euros for the bread.
I ordered the expensive enough steak 29 euros and the aiter tells me that there is no side and asks if I'd like to order a side. He suggested potatoes I said ok.....well there isn't really a side but they served it with lettuce variety which would of bin fine..... I get the bill and for a small plate of potatoes 9 euros.
I ordered lemon juice trying to be healthier on holidays...... 9 euros and you get maybe a small whiskey sized glass of lemon mixed with water - no sweetener no refills. A child's portion of a beverage for 9 euros.
Also, when I was heading back to my seat the waitress and I met inbetween the tables. I looked at her, she looked at me and I expected her to be in a service industry and at least offer to let me pass first. Nope.... She passes first syas nothing and let's out a huge sigh as she walks by me. This was the same waitress that was all snutty about us saying no to the water.
Then the 19% tourist tax called some service tax. It wasnt even located at a nice fountain like Trevi this restaurant was in a square with the smallest of all fountains and you charge this high of tax o .top of over priced meal. And then the waiter had the nerve to mention as he dropped off the bill that "just to let you know tip is not included but it's up to you"!
Well guess what bud. I don't like being tricked into accidentally buying more than what I order - if you bring stuff to the table opened I expect it to be free. I also don't like the fact that you didn't check on our meal l. And the fact that with an over priced restaurant I get a child's portion of a beverage with my meal! So no, hell no, you ain't getting no tip for this terrible service at an over priced restaurant...

It is very sad to know that, in a beautiful place like Rome, we have a dishonest workers and a place that accept them and probably even make them act like that. First of all, the price is ridiculously high, which we could accept if the problem stopped there. But then comes the bill, and they add service, which, for who doesn't know, doesn't exist in Italy. Tip it is another thing that doesn't exist here, unless you reeeeeeaaaaally want to tip your waitress. Our bill came with 12.16 Euros in service, which shouldn't. The total (with the tip/service) would be 76.16. On top of that, the waitress charged $79.16 and played dumb. We could have left a real tip for her and even a nice review, even going back every day because we are a few steps from here, but dishonesty doesn't fit our pockets. I wonder how many people are struggling because they come here on a budget and fall for this terrible trap and scam. Look, the food is ok, nothing speacial, nothing marvelously delicious, just ok. The price is already high for an okay food, there is no need to do this at all. Ever! I am 100% sure that, all the money you guys are scamming from honest customer (yes, this is theft), won't make you rich, and a little further in your days the life will make you, the dishonest ones, pay back in double. Just remember: don't accept to pay for service (you can call the police, the number is 113) and check the price they put in the credit card machine before you pay. Leave tip if you want, but remember: it is not usual to do...
Read moreAte here yesterday. Service wasn’t great to start with although we were fine and still happy to stay there. After we ordered, we waited for bread and had to ask twice. Our mains came, and 5 minutes later the bread. We went to pay, and were absolutely ASTONISHED with the 20 Euro service fee, on top of our 100 or so euro dinner. This is when we really felt bitter about the service.
Anyway, I tried to pay via card (wasn’t carrying cash) and their machine wasn’t working. Their whole system went offline. I understand this happens, although while my husband went walking back to our hotel to get our cash to fix THEIR problem, I was left waiting for 45 minutes inside their restaurant with absolutely no concession and no one even letting me know out of general decency what was happening. If they had offered a glass of wine or ANYTHING to start with ‘on the house’, I would have been happy to sit there.
When my husband came back, we paid an effing ridiculous bill with a pathetic service charge! We both told them that the service charge was ridiculous (weren’t aggressive) and the waiter started arguing with us and said ‘when you asked for bread, I brought you bread’. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and customer service. Some people will probably have better, and if the issue with paying didn’t happen, I would still probably rate it 2/5. Absolutely not worth the money, and on top of this charged 6 euro for cappuccino... 24 hours later am...
