This is truly a hidden gem in the centre of Rome. Conveniently located between Termini Train Station & Foro Romano, close to all accommodation along Via Nazionale, but peaceful & quiet thanks to being tucked away on one of the back streets. I came to this place because the hotel I was staying at had an arrangement with them to offer breakfast, and it was so good, I kept coming back many times, each time I was in Rome. The interior is not a typical Italian trattoria, it is quirky and colourful, and there's always great music playing (jazz, reagge, etc). It's "digital nomad friendly", which is not easy to find in the Mediterranean bars & restaurants. The staff never minded me staying longer when I had to do some remote work on my laptop, or when I had to wait through the layover time between checking out from a hotel & going to the airport. But most importantly: the food! All ingredients are fresh and seasonal, the owner is pioneering sobe sustainable solutions, offers tap water, recycles, etc. I've had some of the best, custom made (!) pasta here, served al dente as it should be, with add on ingredients that I liked (the waiters just asked me what I liked, and they told me that the chef will create something special for me- how cool is that?). Everyone working there is friendly, patient and smiling, and they speak good English. You should really check this place out! I'll be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWeāre at the end of our second of three weeks based in Rome and have enjoyed breakfast at Rosemary five times so far. Weāve tried numerous other local cafĆ©s and keep coming back to Rosemary because itās such a lovely experience. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, the food is wonderful and affordable, and the restaurant is cozy and clean.
The owner, Marco Varano, is a gregarious host. He works hard to ensure that his guests have a great experience at his restaurant. Beyond its excellent food, convenient location, comfy chairs, and free wifi, Rosemary is a popular local hangout because of Marco himself. On numerous occasions, Marco went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and well-cared-for: going so far as to repeatedly seat us at āour tableā (one of the prime large tables by the window), to bring us free espressos, and even to give us free Nutella cake on one occasion.
Iāll be sure to recommend Rosemary to all my Rome-bound friends and family, and will add Rosemary to our Airbnbās list of outstanding local restaurants. My friends and I will certainly return to Rosemary several more times before we leave Rome, and will make a point of coming back whenever we return to the Eternal City. When we do, I know Marco will greet us like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely delightful people at this place from the manager/owners to the servers. I visited with my two young children for breakfast and they were so incredibly kind to us to the extent that they sent a waiter with us to their other hotel when they knew i wanted to find a playground because there was a little courtyard with swings in their hotel courtyard. When we got there the lady there was again so kind, she sent out cartons of juice for my kids, talked and played with them and gave me lots of advice. I felt so welcomed by all these people and as a mother of young kids and a tourist at the same time it was so very appreciated. At Rosemary we had yoghurt with fruit (this could be slightly better as some of the fruit pieces tasted a bit too crunchy/raw or not so ripe) and the toast with home made prickly pear jam (the toast was really fresh and the jam very tasty) as well as a cappuccino and a steamed milk. I'd recommended this...
