When visiting Venice today it was hard to find a nice affordable restaurant, but I thankfully found this place!
I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and my other friends ordered a Pizza and Penne Arrbirata, so let's talk about the food first.
The Bolognese was absolutely perfect, definitely one of the best ones I've had in my life. The sauce was perfect in the seasonings and taste, the pasta is cooked Al dente and normally I don't like that but this time was absolutely devine.
I tried some of the Arrbirata and it was nice, the spice was perfect, it doesn't overpower. It did require some salt and pepper though.
Unfortunately the pizza was a little bit of a downfall, it didn't have much taste in the sauce or cheese.
The drinks were quite pricey, a Fanta bring 4 euro and a small glass of wine being 5 euro. But id personally say it's because of the good food pricing.
The service was perfect, very fast and they were all very friendly and never ignored you. Unlike other restaurants where servers tried to convince you to go in, they were very nice and not pushy.
The environment was also very nice, away from big crowds and you can sit inside and outside, so it's nice and quiet as well as having shade so nice and cool. The tables were also very clean and comfortable to sit at, and was a good space apart from other tables.
Over all I highly recommend this place if you're looking for nice pasta at a...
Read moreAfter wandering around the Palazzo Duccale for a few hours, we were desperate for lunch and went here. Tourist trap is the first term that comes to mind. When we saw that the spritzes were €5, rather than the usual (for Venice, anyway) €3.50, we thought “that’s not too terrible”, but the food was, in short, a letdown.
I ordered the pesto gnocchi and it was very obvious the pesto was not homemade. I don’t know whether the gnocchi was or not, but for the price we paid, both elements certainly should have been. My boyfriend had tortellini with cream and said it all seemed store-bought. They weren’t very complicated meals either, so, again, for the price we paid, they really could’ve made it at home. I guess the portion sizes made up for it a little bit, but not much.
We ordered a bottle of water to go with our meal, but we never received it. Because we were already so disappointed anyway, we decided not to bother reminding them. Of course, the bottle did end up on the receipt/bill anyway, but when we commented that we never got it, they removed it again.
Perhaps we should’ve known better, given the location, but we were still very disappointed. I didn’t even take a picture of my meal, which I always do when I eat out, because, to be honest, I’ve had better pasta pesto...
Read moreI would like to give a very transparent review. We were a group of 4, with an infant. We just wanted to have a bit of food, as we were not very hungry from our day. When the waiter came to take our order. We ordered a pizza, a pasta, a portion of fries and an Aperol. To this the waiter gave us such an insulting reaction, as if we did a mistake by „not ordering enough“. I asked the waiter afterwards, if it was a problem then we can also leave. To which he said, that for him it’s ok, but for his boss it’s too less food but ok. (We should have already gone at this point to save us more insult later on).
When our food arrived, we were not served any oil, Parmesan etc. which is very normal for an Italian restaurant. We were not even served any bread, but this I don’t take for granted. When I asked, if we could get some Parmesan, the waiter said that we need to pay extra for it. (This I find very weird, especially when you’re in Italy)
I myself have worked in gastronomy as a waiter and I know how things work. Under no circumstances can a guest be made feel so bad, for not ordering enough and then treating them any less than others. This kind of insulting behaviour is not appreciated and hence my review.
We liked the pizza very much, to end the topic on a...
