Osteria San Luca — Restaurant in Venice

Summary: You walk into a restaurant as a tourist, just wanting to enjoy a meal, and the waiter starts shouting at you and speaking in a threatening tone. Avoid this place at all costs. If I had more time, I would’ve gladly taken a moment to deal with that disrespectful waiter properly.

I walked into this restaurant in Venice with my friend and ordered pizza, pasta. There was a middle aged man working as the waiter (around 45 years old). From the moment we entered, he had a sour expression on his face. He didn’t even greet us. He assumed I only wanted a drink and asked questions with a visibly annoyed attitude.

While we were waiting for our food, I noticed that he had taken the wrong order from a family at the next table. When they politely reminded him, he yelled at them saying, Why are you rushing me?

When I asked for the bill, he practically threw it on the table. I told him I wanted to pay by card and leave immediately. Then, because I didn’t look him in the eyes while he was shouting, he said, You should look into my eyes when...

Not the cheapest, Not the tastiest, Not a great location, just okay. Staff has little personality. Service was poor. Turns out, they charge a 2 euro Per person at the table, regardless of the food order or bill. An order of 2 margarita pizzas totals 14 euros plus 6 euros for Service! The outside tables can smoke. The windows' glass is removed so all the smoke goes inside. The tables hid a dozen mosquitoes.

All along the waterways, restaurants serve the same and much more options of food with no Service charge. The waiters earn their tips and the views are exactly what everyone comes for. With dozens of places to eat, I will not return...

I don’t understand why this place has only 3,8 Stars, the foods here are absolutely delicious. I read someone’s review saying the tiramisu is bad, since it’s only 6,50€ I was like “I’m gonna give it a try” and see for myself & it’s one of the most delicious tiramisus I have ever eaten. 😋 Waitresses very polite, welcoming. I know a lot of people hate it when waitresses are standing in front of the restaurant trying to invite you inside but because we were on a rush (kids were hungry) we tried it & absolutely worth it!
