Ristorante Pedrocchi — Restaurant in Venice

I requested from waiter Marco a bolognese pasta without pork, but with meat. And he replied that meat for this place is pork and all pastas with pork. It was impolite and disrespectful to me as a tourist of this place, customer of the restaurant and a muslim. Then I asked another waiter Ricardo to serve me because I didn't want to argue with previous waiter, but anyway Marco took food preference from my friend who can eat dishes with pork. During the meal time i was talking to my friend and Marco came to ask her "How are you? I won't ask anything from your friend, because another waiter is serving her. Haha". Me and my friend didn't react to his comment but stayed silent until he leaves us alone. Even at this time I didn't want to be involved in this stupid situation with this rude waiter who doesn't know how to treat guests of the restaurant. He even brought us bread with butter but mentioned that bread has ingredients of pork because was cooked together with pork dishes and didn't offer me alternatives. So he discriminated me not even once. Later when we were paying our bills+service taxes, I asked man the name of our waiter. He said "Marco" and called him but we didn't asked it. So they spoke to each other and without any excuses Marco told me "you can write whatever you want". I was shocked and didn't want to skip this rudeness anymore. I went to speak to manager who didn't apologise and added "We don't have any complaints on him. And I support his behaviour". I left. The end. But I think everybody, especially Muslim society should know what service and food will be offered at this restaurant. This humiliation should be highlighted for further consideration of this place. I was here last night with my partner. We are on holiday, so we were trying to get some finger food and cocktails. I asked the waiter if they have some olives to share with our cocktails, and he said we need to get something else so they can give us the olives. My partner asked for calamari even if he didn't want them. It was just about getting olives for us. This guy arrived with 2 plates of calamari, so I told him I didn't want food, just my partner. He started to laugh and said, "Your partner asked me for that." My partner said for one because she asked you for olives. The waiter was laughing and said, "You can eat her plate." My partner said ok, but where are the olives? This guy laughed and said they didn't have them. I told him I didn't want to pay for something I didn't ask for, and he was still laughing. He humiliated me and walked away. Al the end, we paid for that, I just feel he takes advantage of the situation, and he thinks he has the right to give us whatever he wants. I work in the hospitality industry as a manager, and I will never allow my staff to make our customers feel like this. I loved italy, I have been in Italy plenty of times. Me and my friends came here on our first night in Venice. We were simply walking around and the warmth of the front of the house staff really pulled us in.

On the first night we tried the lasagne, carbonara and gnocchi. Needless to say we were left speechless by how tasty everything was. We also tried the house white wine and we can easily say it was the best one we had all trip.

We couldn’t leave without coming back one last time, therefore on our last night we came back to try the pizza (diavola, romana and prosciutto and mozzarella). There were absolutely no words exchanged at the table because we were all busy finishing our plates. We can easily say that this was such a tasty choice. Obviously we ordered the house wine and this time we simply HAD to try the tiramisu. The dessert did not disappoint and we finished it in 2 seconds, despite the large portion.

On top of that the staff were so lovely with us. On the first night they were quite attentive and welcoming but to our surprise, when we came back we got recognised right away. The waiter that served us both times went above and beyond for us, ready to answer our questions with patience while creating a very warm and friendly environment for us.

We definitely left with our hearts full and we can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you for looking after...
