Ristorante Da Nini — Restaurant in Venice

Ate here solely because I figured they’d cater to Americans as they openly solicited to come dine there. Service was slow and the waiters were aloof. Carbonara tasted like Kraft Mac and cheese. Then the annoying part, about 30 minutes from the primi to the second dish… only to find multiple hairs in the calamari. Showed the waiter and they seemed unfazed, made obvious by the full bill immediately following. I complained and they removed the service fee but still charged full price for the meals. As a foreigner you must know when to cut your losses so we paid and left. Last bit, the waiter asked me if everything was okay after we paid. I told him absolutely not and he seemed offended. Like home from home. As a solo traveller, I felt drawn to this restaurant as the staff were so warm and friendly. A big thank you to Simo for making me feel welcomed and valued as a diner, you went out of your way to speak English and really added to the fun atmosphere and I didn't want to leave.

At Pub Da Nini I had the best salmon pasta dish I have ever eaten, it was delicious, great sized portion and generous with the fish. Their cocktails were decent sized and tasted sublime. I returned to the restaurant a few times during my stay in Venice and was never disappointed.

Cannaregio has always been my favorite part of Venice, and this restaurant truly exemplifies why.
