If I could give this a lower rating I would.
This was such a upsetting and disappointing experience. In the city for one night and enticed by the adoring setting we selected Trattoria Reale to be our seat for the night. Initially chastised like school children for moving towards the seating area, we overlooked this as a misunderstanding on our part. Service was slow, but we were in no rush. We went straight in for main course and were disappointed to find a hair in the pasta (under cooked at that) and raised this with the waiter, very discreetly. The waiter proceeded to laugh at us and said I don’t know, grabbed our plates and walked off ranting publicly about us. We thought better of dessert and requested the bill, no reduction or even acknowledgement of the short coarse hair found attached to the pancetta in the carbonara. Not only did they chose not to acknowledge the “side” we had to ordered, they also charged us for a full bottle of wine (we had one glass) and the coperto which we did not have. When challenged they very loudly drew attention to us, making a scene that we had questioned the pricing and items we did not have. The waiter rudely waved cutlery at us and in a loud voice told us the charges were for the condiments we needed to merely eat our pasta plus hair. It was highly embarrassing and we were very upset by the experience. Rude, inattentive, disrespectful, unwelcoming, bland. Would...
Read moreTL;DR: They loose reservations and just throw you out. And the way they do it makes it feel like they do this often.
We made a reservation at this location online which was confirmed by the restaurant and when we showed up they seated us. Then the waiter came back and demanded us to leave since they overlooked all reservations made online that day and had no free seat anymore. Which on one of the busiest days and walking around with an elderly lady that’s not so well on foot is just nothing you want to do. Because now we had to find another restaurant in a fully booked city. Luckily we met a friend from another restaurant who saved our night. And according to him Reale Verona seems to loose reservations quite often. So watch out. We are in this city often but will never go...
Read moreWe came in for a birthday meal and ate outside.
Our waiter was pretty grumpy. Threw down the menu, not waiting for us to consider the options and didn't focus on us at all.
The waiter didn't understand my request for no dairy,. didn't understand dairy at all, had to describe it as "milk" and have to really emphasise that he needed to check. He eventually did. I had my eye on a salmon steak but apparently it was already "combined" with veg that had dairy on them and therefore I could not eat. It was odd, and no real care or offer of something else.
We ended up with good food and I've got no complaints, lovely restaurant and good wine. But doesn't cater for allergens or dietary requirements and our waiter seemed grumpy and dismissive...
