Loved this little place. We got there too late to get served food but the drinks on offer were reasonably priced (perhaps because it was down a side street and not on the main drag in Venice.
The waitress can only be described as efficient and curt. There were lots of tables to service so perhaps her rather cold demeanour was as a result of being rushed off her feet.
No matter - the experience of watching tourists and Venicians go about their business down this side street was worth it. It was a particularly hot day when we visited this bar, so we were glad to be in the shade of the narrow street, surrounded by private residents' doorways.
It was not the drink....but working the bathroom sink (a foot operated device) almost had me reach into my pocket for anti bac and forget about washing my hands....
Read moreThis is my go-to bar every morning when I’m in school. It’s super cute and located in an ideally secluded alley/promenade. The owner/chef, Marcelo, always greets us with kindness while he’s busy chopping vegetable or cooking something yummy in a big pot on the stove. The interior is cozy on a cloudy day, and the outdoor tables are lovely on a sunny one! In addition to daily specialties, they regularly offer so many delicious types of prepared vegetable sides here! You can mix and match the ones you wish to create your own mixed plate for lunch. Finding this many fresh and beautifully prepared vegetable dishes is not east in Verona!! This is a city of pasta, meats and cheeses. Veggies, not so much. Their filled or empty Cornetti are always fresh and a perfect company for a cappuccino in...
Read moreJust up a side street, but if you miss it, I feel sorry for you. The food is excellent and the chef takes his time to describe each individual dish. I went for the meatballs, but a decent portion of lasagne with Ragu was added also. My partner had the vegetable lasagne and although unsure at the time, due to the size of the helping, the plate was empty by the finish. The sides are superb also. 12 Euros per plate. On paying the bill, we were given two drinks for free, which was a pleasant surprise. Mind you, on a hot day, a few Paulaners had been consumed by myself. We were on a day trip from Bergamo, but had we been staying in Verona, this would certainly have been our local. Please visit, you won't be...
