We stumbled on this underrated gem just off Piazza Duomo and loved every minute. Don’t come looking for pizza or tourist set menus, Ponte Mollo cooks the real flavors of Rome with a chef’s finesse and a cozy, design‑forward room (teal walls, modern art, exposed beams) that feels intimate rather than showy.
What we loved & what to order Er Supplì to start, comforting and perfectly fried. Carbonara (mezze rigatoni) and Cacio e Pepe (tonnarelli): textbook Roman, balanced and creamy without shortcuts. Coda alla vaccinara (oxtail) and Polpette al sugo for slow‑cooked depth; add a Carciofo alla Romana on the side. Save space for a classic Maritozzo con la panna. Prices are fair for the quality (most primi around €15, secondi €17–21; pane/coperto €3).
The team is warm and happy to guide pairings; the list plays nicely with the food (think local Verona bottles alongside crowd‑pleasing Italian picks). The kitchen is led by chef Tommaso Timpano, whose CV spans Franceschetta58, Osteria Francescana, Torno Subito and Disfrutar—serious technique applied to beloved Roman recipes.
If you want excellent food and wine that’s different from the usual tourist fare, Ponte Mollo is the move. Classic Roman dishes, a thoughtful kitchen, and a charming room near the cathedral, exactly the kind of place you tell friends about after...

We came on a Sunday night and it was a little quiet as that’s their quietest time so it was like our own private dining experience which was really special!
The attention to detail from the chef and the exceptional service from the waitress made this an experience to remember.
Would highly recommend to ask for the drinks pairing as well, which is not on the menu but was the most amazing well-thought out and unique combination which paired so well with the food.
When I go out to eat, I love to eat things that I would never cook or have myself at home (I am quite a good cook!) and absolutely everything on the menu was a surprise and so much fun to experience. I won’t post photos as I think it is a lot more fun to be surprised with what the chefs will have spent an inordinate amount of time on coming up...
Read moreA nice relaxed place to spend an hour or two people watching. With the restaurant opposite the Duomo, plenty to see! Food served quickly, and both the meat and cheese fresh and tasty. Friendly, quick service, we sat outside so didn't experience the decor, but it is noticeable and attractive when I paid the bill. Noise on the street from traffic can be noticeable but just stay away from peak times (1:30ish!) and all...
