This is a great wine bar and restaurant with very welcoming staff. Overall it’s pretty pricey but the quality is worth it. They have a very good selection of wine in bottles and, probably uniquely in town, an enomatic machine with local wine (8 whites, 8 reds), and other Italian wines (around 10+ more in total). They had a couple of dessert wines (recioto) but unfortunately did not have vino Santo. The parmigiana surprise starter tasted really great! Definitely would like to repeat it. House tiramisu tasted really well too but there was nothing special there. They also paid attention to small nuances and increased the desire to come back by applying a small discount to the bill (discarding cents), bringing a digestif on the house etc. The only weird thing was them charging me for tap water - it did not ruin the experience for sure and they compensated it with a lot of other things but it felt really strange. In any case, I want to come back - this is a great...
Read moreThis is a small restaurant with 20-30 wines available on an electronic card tasting system. It is not possible to just do a wine tasting, you must also sit at a table and order food. Very dim lighting, dark, and too-cool colored led table lamps (bad lighting is a pet peeve). Veal carne cruda Is fresh and tasty but unseasoned - they do bring oil and salt/pepper to your table. Sardegnan pan carasau came with it, but was stale, not fully fresh and crispy - probably needed a quick refresh in the oven. Risotto al Amarone (minimum two people) is outstandingly well done - perfect cook, seasoning, flavor, and creaminess with just a tiny hint of cacao. Sbrisolona Is Verona's version of cantucci - you must pour either grappa or recioto (passito) on them so they are edibly softened. Wine selection includes local wines by the glass including a couple of superiores and amarones available in your choice of size of pour. Many more available by the bottle....
Read moreWe had a really wonderful time at this wine bar tonight. The owner Marco was incredibly kind and told us a lot about the wine in the region. We know a lot about this region and have tried a lot of wine throughout the world but he managed to tell us really interesting things that we didn’t already know. (I should stress we live right nearby surrounded by vineyards).
It was also a joy to be able to try sparkling wine from Franciacorta as well as Spumante from Trentino. The showstopper though was a natural amarone. We are not big drinkers but we ended up having three glasses each. We also discovered that they have a wonderful wine tasting option where you can taste many different wines yourself by going to the casks. All and all, this is a very charming and local place with lots of personality and passion from the owner. I will be really...
