The best way to describe this place in a nutshell is 'fancy tempura'.

I have to say you definitely get your bang for buck here. You have two options the 5 course meal for ¥4620 and the 7 course meal for ¥6600. I went for the former, and I'm glad I did cos I was absolutely stuffed by the end. In my experience with these kind of high end places is that they offer so little in portions for so much money. However this place offers so much for a very good price! This doesn't include drinks. Drinks aren't extortionately priced so don't worry...they're around the same price as izakaya. Although I opted for a special umeshu sampler set at I think ¥1300.

In the 5 course you get:

  1. 'Teishoku' style starters like salmon sashimi, quail egg, simmered veggies etc. They literally give you a map of it cos there's so much (it's in Japanese)
  2. mushroom soup type dish
  3. the main tempura plate with several condiments like matcha salt, yuzu salt, kyoto salt, ponzu, tempura sauce and my favourite an egg yolk. Each tempura is bite size or double bite size as it's their concept.
  4. steamed mushroom rice pot served as ochazuke (rice with broth poured on top) + tai (cod) sashimi.
  5. soy milk pudding which can be eaten in 3 ways. Kinako, syrup and chestnut pudding.

Side note: I guess the dishes in the course changes seasonal especially the starter plate and the dessert.

The restaurant is pretty small and as far as i could see they can only fit probably around 10 people. They only accept reservations as they need to prep for everything so please give them a ring. Don't worry the seating itself is pretty spacious.

I'm not sure if any of the staff members speak English or not as I only used Japanese. I'm pretty sure they have English menus at the very least.

Maybe the only negative thing i have to say is that the location is a smidge hidden or maybe I'm just rubbish with directions. It's tucked away in a small alley on the main street so it can be easy to miss.

Overall, highly recommended. Great price, high quality food and great service! Come here while it's still quiet, this place can be quite difficult to make...

We made it to Kyoto in spite of the heavy snow on that day, so we went to this restaurant that we had researched and reserved in advance.

We ordered the course with drinks and were very satisfied with the time we spent there!

The staff were very nice and attentive, and the timing of the dishes and the way they talked to us were great.

I heard there were some cancellations due to the heavy snow, but if you had to cancel, I highly recommend you to make a reservation again. Any drink can be selected. For craft beer lovers, the fact that we were able to taste Kyoto's craft beer also added to our satisfaction.

Thank you very...

I actually randomly picked this place when planning my trip and i regret nothing. Amazing place, really friendly staffs ( beautiful female and handsome male staffs!) Even they dont speak English they still try their best to communicate. Of course, food was amazing too, with decorations and platings, everything was topknot. The restaurant is not a big one, with only 10-15 seats(?) its a very cozy place. Been there twice already, once with friends and the other time was with family members. Will definitely go back for more!❤️‍🔥👌🏼 i miss the...
