There truly is no honor at this restaurant. Went here with my wife to grab a pizza since is had great ratings on Google. Ordered a pizza and two glasses of wine while we waited. The owner offered me a small glass of scotch. And he had a small glass himself. The bottle was basically empty and he was getting rid of what was left because it was not enough for a standard two finger glasses. Or so it appeared… My bill with pizza and wine was 2200. He then charged me 5100, which doesn’t add up in any way you try. I wasn’t to given a bill, just a number on a calculator. Apparently I paid for the Scotch which was a literally just a sip, and his too! I didn’t order it, it was offered to me like a gift. A let’s drink together type thing. And I certainly did indicate I was buying him a drink. I was just being nice and accepted his offer. Like I said there wasn’t enough for one drink left in the bottle. I just paid the bill and left, as suddenly he couldn’t communicate anymore, and became sketchy. If you are visiting Kyoto and want some pizza just know this place will try to rip you off. The pizza isn’t that good anyway. Certainly not worth the ratings. And the pizzas are tiny at 9” or so. 6 small slices. Or at least our pizza was that size. This place really showed me true Gion-Kyoto hospitality. Save your money and go elsewhere. This pizza joint and its owner are...
Read moreOne of the most memorable experiences in my first time traveling to Japan was coming here to Kitchen Bisshon. I was suggested to come here through my travel buddies and the experience was well worth it. The owner welcomes everyone and takes pride in his atmosphere and food. The environment was small, but cozy with great selection of music, and the owner was more than willing to communicate with anyone despite the language barrier. Pricing is balanced and affordable for anyone taking interest, I spent roughly about 1000-2000 yen just for myself. The service was fast and welcoming, this was definitely one of my best experiences connecting with locals. Local businesses like this, especially in Osaka and Kyoto region are definitely some of the best memories you will make with your family or friends, as Osaka is a very friendly and welcoming city for everyone. I will definitely come back soon in my future travels! Just remember to have plenty of cash on your physical person, as Osaka and Kyoto businesses are...
Read moreA small hidden gem, if Kitchen Bisshon were near my house, it would be high on my list for Pizza. After a day of sightseeing, we were all wiped out so I offered the family that I would grab a couple of pizzas and we could just chill for dinner. I googled “Pizza Near Me” and Kitchen Bisshon popped up. The owner and even the patrons sitting at the bar were super friendly and helpful (I do not speak/read Japanese beyond please/thank you). The menu is posted on the wall and the chef made everything to order. A few notes: The place is very small so I suspect dine-in would be challenging The owner made everything fresh to order so it takes about 7-minutes/per pizza, one at a time The place is also a bar so they allow smoking At the time of my visit (May 2023) a pizza box cost an extra 70 JPY cents (About .50 US) per box so just be prepared with the correct amount. I mention this just so you know. The man who helped us told me before I...
