An amazing hidden gem in Kyoto. Stepped in during dinner hours into a place with the least number of crowd. Place was unassuming and humble. Was totally surprised by the quality, freshness and sheer quantity of seafood in the kaisen don. It was way cheaper than other restaurants as well! They also offer a wasabi infused shoyu which was an unique touch as far as places like these go. Highly recommended! PS: Even got a free miso soup as we followed their instagram page!

The next time I come to Japan I will definitely be ordering here again - my partner and I ordered two bowls, 1 with 3 options and 1 with 2, and it came out to ¥2570 - back in Australia, that would buy you one bowl! I also loved the fast service and the fact that the servers attempt to speak in English.

We’ve been to this branch and another one called “Wakasaya Kawarachi” and in our opinion, the food at the other branch is more flavorful, and the rice is better cooked (softer and more fragrant).
