Wakasaya — Restaurant in Kyoto

An amazing hidden gem in Kyoto. Stepped in during dinner hours into a place with the least number of crowd. Place was unassuming and humble. Was totally surprised by the quality, freshness and sheer quantity of seafood in the kaisen don. It was way cheaper than other restaurants as well! They also offer a wasabi infused shoyu which was an unique touch as far as places like these go. Highly recommended!

I LOVED THIS PLACE!!! Such value for money with lots of options of seafood available - prices vary depending on how much of each seafood you order on your rice bowl. The next time I come to Japan I will definitely be ordering here again - my partner and I ordered two bowls, 1 with 3 options and 1 with 2, and it came out to ¥2570 - back in Australia, that would buy you one bowl! We’ve been to this branch and another one called “Wakasaya Kawarachi” and in our opinion, the food at the other branch is more flavorful, and the rice is better cooked (softer and more fragrant).
