Close to the train station, this outpost of the famous Ippudo chain lives up to its famous brand. There are three main types of ramen served: the traditional, rich miso/pork broth; the modern take on the rich miso/pork broth that has a bit of a spicy bite; and the spicy ramen that (according to my brother-in-law who loves spicy food) is “stupid hot” starting at level 4 spice. Anything that’s a 3-level of heat or higher will have you sweating. However, they’re all delicious. It’s worth getting the deluxe set so you can try the gyoza. The mini fried dumplings are very good, but be sure to eat them hot. They go downhill quickly once they start getting cold. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and it’s a good set up if you have kids with you. The fully translated English menu has lots of fun additional information that teaches you more about the nuances of ramen (and, importantly, how to order more noodles if you run out and still have broth left). It’s consistently good and authentic, but not overly special. If you’re willing to do a little research and possibly wait in line, there are other local options...
Read moreThey have the best tablet ordering system where the interface is very user friendly and the flow is very clear. The Location is quite close and it’s quite spacious, possibly enough for wheelchair but definitely for luggage and prams. The gyoza is amazing 10/10 doesn’t need any gyoza sauce to enjoy it. It has that nice chilli condiment. The shiromaru is the best. I really like the noodle and the soup. The akamaru is ok, nice garlicy and spicy ish broth, ok noodle. Egg is cooked perfectly although it’s not marinated.
The only cons is that all broth seems to have more salt that needed. Instead of putting 150% of salt, it would be more enjoyable at 70-90% mark and give soy sauce on the side. Good thing they give free condiments; ginger, bean sprouts and fermented veg.
Overall a good one to try, but I can’t eat it everyday due to it’s saltiness level.
Good price and free ice tea...
Read moreBest ramen I have ever had! Came here twice while in Osaka and got the akamaru both times - it was so good the first time I had to have it again. The broth is incredible, such a full bodied and well rounded flavour. But the most outstanding part is the noodles - if you are particular about the texture of your noodles, this place is perfection! I ordered the kata/al dente noodles and they were incredible. The gyoza are also outstanding. Wonderful friendly service and atmosphere too, and as others have mentioned, easy ordering on the tablet including an English menu. Overall cannot fault in any way and we can't wait...
