If you're seeking an authentic and delightful kushikatsu experience in Japan, look no further than Kushikatsu Yatai Fukurou (串かつ屋台 ふくろう). This charming spot truly embodies the spirit of a traditional "yatai" (food stall) while offering top-notch fried skewers. What immediately stands out at Fukurou is the incredible variety and freshness of their ingredients. From classic meats like pork and beef to unique seasonal vegetables and seafood, each skewer is carefully prepared and perfectly fried to a golden crisp. The light, non-greasy batter ensures that the natural flavors of the ingredients shine through. Be sure to try their signature skewers – they often have inventive combinations or particularly high-quality ingredients that are a cut above. A major highlight of the Fukurou experience is their exceptional dipping sauces. While the traditional savory sauce is excellent, what truly impressed me was their delicious tomato sauce. It offered a refreshing, slightly tangy counterpoint to the rich fried skewers, adding a unique and delightful twist that I haven't encountered at other kushikatsu spots. It's a must-try for sure! They also have other condiments like salt or lemon available, allowing you to customize your flavor. Beyond the fantastic food, the owner's hospitality is truly outstanding. They create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making every customer feel like a valued guest. Their friendly demeanor and attentive service truly elevate the entire dining experience, adding a personal touch that makes Fukurou particularly memorable. The atmosphere at Fukurou is lively and welcoming, typical of a local izakaya or yatai. It's a fantastic place to unwind, enjoy some cold beer, sake or shochu, and mingle with locals. While kushikatsu is generally an affordable option, Fukurou offers great value for the quality you receive, especially considering the superb food and service. It's an ideal spot for a casual meal with friends, a solo culinary adventure, or anyone wanting to experience a slice of authentic Japanese street food culture in a comfortable setting. Highly recommended for a satisfying, fun, and personally engaging...

Arriving half an hour before last order, the staff kindly confirmed the timing and then seated us. They provided menus in four languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. The ordering method involved writing the Japanese romanized name of the dishes on a small piece of paper and handing it to the staff. The dishes were prepared quickly, and to ensure we knew which dish was which, the staff helpfully arranged the dishes in the order we had written them.

This was my first time eating kushikatsu, and I initially thought it would have a simple fried hot dog-like bread texture. However, the crispy coating told me I am wrong, they are totally different kinds of food (personally, kushikatsu is much more better). I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone trying kushikatsu for the first time.

Finally, I accidentally spilled some sauce, and the staff immediately brought out tissues and a cloth to help us clean up. Thank you for the staff's warm hospitality and assistance. I recommend this restaurant to any tourists visiting...

Came to this kushikatsu restaurant on my last night in osaka after reading the reviews. It looked a bit lonely from the outside at 8-9pm on a Thursday night, but I went in anyway on my own and was greeted with a warm welcome both by the staff and customers inside. There were three staff members there, and all looked to be in their twenties. I was given an English menu, and the lovely waitress came and marked down my order on the self fill in piece of paper, since that was in Japanese.

Everything is fried fresh when you order it, and unlike traditional kushikatsu places, you get your own sauce dish so you can double dip and try all their sauces. The staff were really friendly and were surprised that I'm from Australia, and were chatting to me about my Japan trip despite their limited English. The kushikatsu itself was crisp on the outside and tasted amazing, really loved the mochi, cheese, and Sakura mochi in particular, and left really full. Would...

Went after reading other reviews and had a lovely time. I was on my own but the owners/staff chatted to me in English and kept me company while I ate and drank. There is happy hour on drinks for an hour after they open, and the food is great, but it's the service that will make me a regular visitor here while in Osaka.
