My friends and I love Ramen, but you can't really get good Ramen in Canada, even in big cities, so coming to Japan was a huge treat. We have eaten at a bunch of places in Tokyo, Kyoto, and now here in Osaka. This was the worst place by far.
Everywhere else was four to five stars. This barely, barely, gets a two. We went on a decently busy Saturday night, but for some reason, there was only a single person working.
We were initially very happy that he could speak pretty good English and so could then take our order easier, but the main reason why I am giving this place such a low rating is because he messed up almost every single order.
The main dishes were given numbers one through five, while the side additions were given letters A through F. How do you mess up such a simple system? If you are having trouble remembering who ordered what, write it down!
There were five of us, and only two of us got what we ordered. People who ordered spice didn't get spice. People who ordered extra meat or onions didn't get it. Our bowls were switched and wrong in such a way that we didn't know how to fix it. Then, in the end, they charged us full price for the things we didn't order.
We went because this place had such a high rating, but I seem to have found the exception to the rule. The place was nice, and despite the screw up the food was still pretty good, for those few of us who got what we wanted. If you are looking to get Ramen here, don't, and...
Read moreThe best ramen I've had in osaka. I've tried all variations except the tsukemen. Best combination would be normal chicken broth with spring onions. (I think it's 1F)
The char shu (broiled pork slices) is tender and melts in your mouth while the eggs is boiled perfectly and steeped in sauce. Soup has a great chicken flavour and is not too over-powering or salty to finish. I have only returned completely empty bowls back to the chef.
The seafood variation has added bonito and anchovy added to the chicken broth which makes it a little too salty to drink, however I think it will be great if eaten as a tsukemen. Adding seaweed like others have recommended overpowers the chicken broth.
The ramen bar is a one man operation and the chef/owner is extremely pleasant. English menu is available and it is very easy to order.
I am a bit hesitant to review this place because I'm selfish and want to keep this place to myself. I will definitely go back if I'm around...
Read moreVery well prepared bowl of ramen, with chicken broth that is not overly salty nor oily. Slurp the ramen like a pro, and drank the broth till the last drop. Ordering is simple, as the menu contains pictures that make it relatively straightforward for a non-Japanese speaker. That's exactly how I ordered my ramen, with additional pork slices and eggs to indulge in this wonderful ramen experience.
The pleasant gentleman manning the counter was extremely polite, and adequately competent and efficient to churn out bowls of ramen fairly quickly. Note that seats are limited (~10), but they clear up very quickly.
Cleanliness of the table is acceptable, though there is room for improvement - when compared to other dining establishments that make the effort to wipe down the tables after each diner.
This is one of the few ramen stalls that I would repeatedly patronise.
