First time to Osaka, first meal here, and my first time trying curry ramen. I was AMAZED at many levels.
The place is small, yes, but the staff are so kind and the food was SO TASTY and portion sizes were very generous. I struggled, but I finished all my noodles as well as the soup because it was really delicious. Despite being a curry ramen, the soup wasn't so concentrated that I felt bloated afterwards - in fact, the consistency was so well balanced that it still had the thickness of a curry but the lightness of a drinkable soup!
Also, I was really moved. I actually made the mistake of ordering pork ramen curry instead of chicken ramen curry and I didn't realize. However, because my mum ordered a chicken katsu curry, he automatically cooked me a chicken katsu. However, when he served my ramen to me he realised that what he cooked was different to what was on the docket, pointed it out to me, and within seconds had put a pork katsu into the fryer ALTHOUGH I had told him it was okay! About half way through my ramen, he served me the extra pork katsu as an apology, which you can see in the fourth picture attached. I had MORE than enough food, but made sure that mum and I finished the extra pork katsu because the gesture was so kind, and courteous (and the pork katsu delicious, too!!).
Because of my experience, I wasn't surprised that there was a line out the door by the time I had finished eating.
Also, what a joy also to see them prepare everything before your eyes with such care and discipline!!!
I will be back, and highly recommend this place to anyone thinking about going š¤©

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped by Oretachino Curry-ya for dinner and were greeted by a bustling sceneāthe restaurant was packed, and rightly so. Despite the short wait, the experience was streamlined thanks to a self-service ticket machine at the entrance, which made ordering efficient and stress-free. Staff were courteous, quick, and professional throughout.
The restaurant maintained a spotless environment, impressive for a curry joint. There were no heavy curry or oil smells lingering in the airājust clean, inviting simplicity that allowed the food to shine.
We ordered both the chicken and pork katsu curries, each topped generously with torched cheese. What arrived was visually stunning: golden katsu laid atop a bed of rice, smothered in rich Japanese curry and a luscious layer of melted, slightly scorched cheese (as seen in the photo). It was indulgent without being heavy.
The curry sauce was deeply savoury, slightly sweet, and beautifully balancedāumami-rich without overwhelming the palate. The katsu cutlets were perfectly fried: crisp and light on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. The addition of the cheese brought an extra layer of richness and texture, making each bite more satisfying than the last.
Oretachino Curry-ya delivers a quintessential katsu kare experience with subtle refinements that elevate it above the average. If youāre in Osaka and craving a comforting, flavourful Japanese curry, this spot is absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I walked into the store and asked a staff member how long takeout would take. The staff member confidently said ā10 minutes,ā so I placed my order and waited. 10 minutes go by. 15. 20. Still nothing. I go back in to ask, (they keep talking "Go outside, wait." Am I puppy?) andāsurprise!āthe same staff member goes, āYou didnāt order takeout.ā ā¦Oh really? Thanks for the enlightenment.
Now hereās the fun part. On the ordering machine, thereās no option anywhere obvious to choose dine-in or takeout. First, it makes you pick a language (great), then you pick your food (cool), then you pay (sure)ābut apparently, the takeout menu is secretly hiding in some swipeable top bar like itās part of a hidden questline. :) No pop-up, no warning, no āHey, are you dining in or taking out?ā Just vibes.
Sure, Iāll take part of the blame for not realizing I had to swipe through the UX Bermuda Triangle to find the takeout section. But seriously, who designed this system? Maybe start with putting the dine-in/takeout choice at the start, right after language selection. Radical idea, I know.
Anyway, I asked to cancel the order, and the staff attitude? Oh, just as lovely as youād expect. I know working with people all day is hard, but acting like you're doing me a favor just by speaking? Chef's kiss. :)
Moral of the story: If youāre ordering takeout, bewareāyou might just be playing a game of UX...
