From the moment we stepped into Tsujita Shinsaibashi, the energy of Osaka’s culinary soul enveloped us. This is not just a restaurant; it’s a shrine to noodles, and our meal was nothing short of transcendent. I ordered the signature tsukemen, and it arrived in the classic two bowl presentation: al dente, house made noodles with that perfect chewy bite, alongside a rich, velvety pork and fish broth that’s been simmering for hours. The dipping sauce was an umami bomb: intensely savory with a whisper of citrus brightness and a subtle smoky undertone. Each dip coated the noodles in liquid gold. Pro tip: ask for the yuzu kosho on the side; that pop of spice and fragrance elevated every bite to nirvana. My wife went for the tonkotsu ramen, and the bowl that arrived was pure poetry. The broth was creamy yet light, with a depth that only comes from bones roasted and reduced with monastic patience. The chashu melted like butter, the ajitama egg was perfectly molten, and the noodles held their springy texture to the very last slurp. She hasn’t stopped raving about it. Service was warm, efficient, and genuinely passionate. Our server even explained the broth making process with pride. The open kitchen lets you watch the chefs wield their craft like samurai with ladles. Tsujita Shinsaibashi doesn’t just serve food; it delivers an experience. If you’re in Osaka and you love noodles, this is non negotiable. We’re already planning...
Read moreMy first visit here was wonderful with great food, friendly service, and a helpful female staff member who clearly had experience. She guided me through the ordering process and had already placed a cup of water at my seat before I even sat down. I also appreciated the QR code explaining how to eat the dipping noodles, which was a thoughtful touch for first-timers.
It was weird, though, when the chef handed me a card and directly asked for a five-star Google review right after I finished eating. It felt a bit pushy, but overall, the experience remained positive.
However, my second visit right before leaving Osaka was disappointing. There was no staff managing the queue, and someone pushed ahead and walked inside on her own. A staff member ended up serving her first, which felt unfair.
For such a popular restaurant that draws many tourists, it would really help to have someone guiding the queue and assisting foreigners with the ordering process. Additionally, the woman behind me stood far too close while I was using the ordering machine and kept asking questions, which made the experience uncomfortable.
The food is still very good, but the service needs more attention—especially for such a busy and...
Read moreDefinitely one of the better tsukemen I’ve had in awhile. I ordered their best seller, special broth tsukemen, soup was strong and very flavourful, how tsukemen should be in my opinion, and more surprising was the roast pork rice. The pork and Negi were slightly charred creating a bold and smoky flavour, and the hidden fragrant chilli oil at the bottom of the rice bowl added to another level of taste and richness to the delicious and generous serving of the pork on the rice. This is the best I could describe, a must order along with the awesome noodle. Bring your appetite, servings are big for the awesome noodles as well. As for service, chef was attentive and he knew our food would be for sharing, prepared and extra bowl and water was already served on the table as I was...
