Without a doubt, this was the worst dining experience that I have had in Tokyo and I'd highly recommend that you avoid this restaurant, especially if you're a foreigner.
I found the staff were extremely inattentive, not providing cutlery with meals and ignoring repeated requests for an English menu as only my partner could speak Japanese.
In addition to various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, we ordered a 460g Pork Shoulder and 230g Rump (or so we had thought)
The first and largest issue for me was that they repeatedly got our order wrong despite us asking to confirm several times in both Japanese and English to two different waiters... this unfortunately resulted in two following problems;
Our first problem was that my beef rump had arrived, and yet my partners pork shoulder did not arrive, so they had to sit for 30 minutes uncomfortably watching me eat until we had both then realised their food was not coming and the waiter had gotten the order wrong.
We then asked the waiter where the pork shoulder was and they just gave a surprised expression and asked us to wait a few minutes.
A few minutes later, the waiter returns and serves us what was quite clearly beef and not the pork that we'd ordered. Obviously very confused at this, I then asked the waiter "Pork?" and pointed at the meat to indicate that it quite clearly was not pork. They just confirmed it was actually pork and I let it go and didn't look much further. Not wanting to make the service staff feel awkward, my partner started eating the dish (they dislike beef) and I just decided to have a quick taste.. yep, absolutely not the pork we ordered!
After finishing up, we asked for the cheque and I had noticed that they had significantly overcharged us. There were 4 appetisers listed on the receipt despite there only being 2 people. This was eventually corrected but without an apology.
In addition, we were significantly over-billed for 460g beef steak that we did not actually order... I queried this with the service staff, which quickly escalated to both the manager and even the chef, who all confirmed that beef was served despite us ordering pork.
To me, this experience felt like a tourist trap. I implore you to check your bills if you do visit this establishment.
It felt like walking into a watch store, asking for a 1,000 JPY Casio watch and instead getting presented with the bill for a 1,000,000 JPY Rolex. It isn't what was asked for and we should not have been billed for it -- this was the mistake of the restaurant, not the customer, and we gave three opportunities for the service staff to spot and correct this mistake even whilst the dish was being served to us.
The only reason that I decided to leave and not discuss this matter further with the manager was out of respect for both the patrons, and of my partners time. I do not like feeling cheated and scammed and absolutely wont be returning to this...
Read moreI love this place and have visited many times. This is a meat eaters paradise. Although a vegetarian would be fine with some of the offerings (salads etc) this really isn't the place for a vegetarian. There is a table charge of ¥300 per person and you get some lovely cheese for it. Actually worth it for once! The meat is cooked beautifully (and always pink... If you want it well done, you can ask... But why would you do that to the meat!??! 😛) Each main meat dish is served with a small amount of fried potatoes (fries/chips), half a grilled tomato, and a little potion of whole grain mustard. (Can vary slightly with a chalot option instead of the tomato). Pretty much everything on the menu is designed for sharing. There are salad options, and side dish options include veggies, sausages with mash... etcetc. It's not the cheapest place, but it's definitely worth it. The food is prepared fully on view in the center of the restaurant in the open kitchen.
Lunch option is a set menu with either beef or pork. It's much more simple and basic, but is reasonably priced (in comparison to their evening menu) and doesn't have a table charge at lunch time either.
They also have an extensive range of beers... I don't drink beer so I can't really comment on that! Other alcohol is...
Read moreToday Sunday 15th Dec 2024, was my first day visiting Japan and Tokyo for the food and the culture/history and I was so excited to try this restaurant but when I came inside the restaurant at 1h20pm and said hello but I was very disappointed by the women behaviour at the reception . She looked at me strangely ( I don’t think that I was looking strange or weird or did anything wrong ) and she told me the restaurant is close and showed me the door , I almost felt rejected while there was many peoples inside eating and available seats and google map showed that it is open on Sunday from 11h30am to 11pm (se attached picture) . However i didn’t argue and went outside to try another restaurant near which was great with nice people. On my way back to my hotel around 2h30pm there was still people inside and I also saw the restaurant front door showing “ come in we are open” as we can see in the picture attached I took. I am wondering if I was just refused because of my skin color, that’s a real pity in that case if this still happens in 2024. I first really tried to convince myself that it wasn't racism and microaggression when it seemed obvious that it was racism...I can’t believe this is real and...
