Really liked this place! I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants in America and Japan and this was more unique for me! It's a South Indian based restaurant so you won't see some items (say, like samosas) that you're used to seeing at North Indian. I ordered a dosa but am totally forgetting what filling i chose...it had like spiced potatoes in it. Either way it was DELICIOUS. And i would go back just for that. The vegetable soup/curry that comes with it wasnt my favorite, kind of reminded me of canned veggie soup haha but better quality. My sister had butter chicken and my sample of it was extremely delicous. We got the donut-reminisce (not donuts but i forgot their names) appetizers, something ive never tried and they were also pretty good. New for me, i still prefer samosas with chutneys but they were fun to try. And they had absolutely delicious cheese and garlic naan which is all i truly cared about haha. The service was great, our server was super nice and spoke English and Japanese. Definitely worth a try if you've never had South Indian food before and like Indian...
Read moreThis evening we had the pleasure of dining at Andhra Kitchen. After three weeks of excellent Japanese cuisine we had an appetite for something else and since we don't have Indian cuisine nearby our home in The Netherlands, Andhra seemed a good choice. We weren't disappointed.
We started with some plain papad, medu vada, pepper chicken and a chana salad. All tasted very good, especially the medu vada, which are made of lentils. The pepper chicken is both delicious and spicy. My mother was born in Indonesia, so we're accustomed to spicy food.
Our main course consisted of tandoori chicken, chicken Chittinadu, Togarashi mutton, tandori and garlic nan and basmati rice. Again: we like the heat, but if you don't, I'd suggest something with little or no peppers. I'm sure the chefs make all their dishes something to look out for, if you're in for some delicious South Indian cuisine.
The restaurant itself lacks a bit of atmosphere, but we were the first clients this evening, so take that in account. We go for good food above atmosphere anyways, and there's no lacking of...
Read moreI went to this place today for lunch ( 2019-July-14). We went exactly at 11:30. We didn't stay in the line. However, there was a long line near 12:00. May be because it was a Sunday. I stayed 5yrs. in Japan and I worked in Hyderabad. ( I am a Sri Lankan). This is the best place in Japan for south Indian foods. I tasted drumsticks after a long time. Rasam also has a unique flavour. I love it. They give unlimited rice for some sets. The most important thing is that this restaurant serves Indian rice ( not Japanese rice). Dosa set also really good. You can taste wada, coconut chutney, sambar and potato with the dosa. I was actually fed up with north Indian restaurants all around the Japan. This was a superb place to me. One another thing was, they put a banana leaf below the thali. Chennai coffee is expensive, but you can try if you forgot the taste after a...
