Bunk Sandwiches - Shinjuku Eastside Square — Restaurant in Tokyo

I came through for a pork belly and cheese sammy almost every day I spent in Tokyo and was never disappointed. Perfect for a quick bite after a workout at the nearby Anytime Fitness.

Also the staff here rules. The woman running things is a sweetheart and extremely accommodating/generous. This is in a business park primarily serving Japanese-speaking professionals and students in the area and I never felt unwelcome as a goofy white dude struggling to understand everything. Also there’s a kid who works there named Yien - that dude is the man and helped me a ton when I was in for lunch.

Food: I ordered the pork belly cubano, and it was delicious! Nothing super fancy, but the pork was VERY tender, and the combination of sweet pickle, smoked ham, mustard, and melted provolone (provolone-like?) cheese was perfect! The panini bread was exact what I want for a Cuban sandwich: soft on the inside and toasted crisply toasted on the outside. I liked it so much that I got one for take-out! The home-made lemonade was not overly sweet and very refreshing, with 2-3 lemon slices. Great for a light lunch!

Bang for Buck: It cost about 1480 yen for a sandwich, drink, and a side, so a tiny bit pricy for the amount of food you get, but not too bad considering the price of other restaurants in the Odaiba area.

Atmosphere: Atmosphere is casual, and the view was phenomenal! You can get a beautiful, wide-angle view of the Rainbow Bridge from every seat of the restaurant.

Service: The service was great! I went with a friend that wasn’t all that hungry, and it was very nice that they allowed us to share a meal. (Many restaurants here require one food order, one drink order, or both, but this place was fine with sharing.) The only comment regarding it was that it was pretty slow. Very bad sandwiches. As soon as I ordered I received my sandwich immediately, and I caught her putting it into a microwave as I was finding my seat. Ordered the Cuban sandwich and the pork was extremely chewy and could not take a bite off the sandwich. Would not recommend to anyone looking for a sandwich to eat.
