Today, I had the chance to try something completely new at "cafebar miyami" in Asakusa – my very first vegan meal. They serve regular dishes too, but I opted for the vegan hamburger, made from soy meat, lotus root, and tofu, all topped with a ratatouille sauce. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much. I thought vegan food might lack flavor compared to regular meals. But boy, was I wrong! This was simply delicious. Not just "good for a vegan dish," but truly tasty food. The texture, the flavors—it didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. The potato salad on the side was made with vegan mayonnaise, which allowed the taste of the potato to really shine through. The salad came with a light sesame dressing, adding another layer of flavor that I loved. But the real surprise? The carrot salad (carrot râpé). I was bracing myself for a sharp vinegar punch, but it was surprisingly mild. The tangy flavor was there, but without that harsh sensation in the nose that sometimes comes with vinegar-based dishes. It was just… amazing. I don’t know how, but it was! And then there’s the café’s owner, a lively local woman named Misa. She’s super friendly, with a real down-to-earth vibe. Hearing her talk about “ratatouille” with such enthusiasm was both funny and heartwarming—it’s that kind of place! For dessert, I tried their homemade carrot cake, which had a strong cinnamon flavor that I really liked. You can choose between vegan or regular cream cheese. I couldn’t decide, so I tasted both! The vegan version had a saltier taste, which actually paired perfectly with the sweetness and spiciness of the cake. "Cafebar miyami" is a hidden gem a bit away from the bustling Kaminarimon area. Whether you’re a couple, a tourist, or even a foodie or professional chef, this place is worth a visit. It's an experience you won’t find...
Read moreMy family of 4 came into this place to get a shaved ice on a hot day, as my kids were hot. Reviews looked good, and place looked cute from outside. But we were disappointed, first surprised when we were told we had to order 4 dishes, when only the kids wanted to share a shaved ice - which was huge! So we ordered drinks for 3 of us - and when we asked what the fruit sodas were, she told us was real fruit. Then surprised to get syrupy, fake food colored bright green soda water for the "melon" soda. Service was really slow too, only one lady for the shop, so we had to wait a while, one by one, for things to be made, and even though only one other party in the cafe, it took 20 mins to get to us. The shaved ice also came with whipped cream on top, which we asked to not include, so we had to scrape it off ourselves. Ice quality was good, but for the price and wait, and making us buy 3 extra drinks that we didn't even drink - was really disappointing. Not worth the walk off the main streets to find what we were hoping would be a quaint, less touristy cafe, and then pay over $40 USD just for what really we wanted, 1 shaved ice bowl. Lesson learned - check on minimum required orders before sitting down and getting forced to buy something you...
Read moreA kakigori cafe located outside of the busy Asakusa area. They also sell French toast 😗
They got various French toast besides the plain. Like strawberry, apple, matcha, mont etc. they come with icecream too so I skipped those.
You can do drink set for 400 yen. Just note there is no coffee ☕️ included in the possible drink set 🫠
Not sure when this cafe is busiest, if at all but around 3pm it was empty. They had English music playing.
The cafe also sells other things like parfaits, simple sandwich 🥪
The French toast was one slice of thick bread with 2 slices of butter and sugar powered on top 😙 Syrup on the side
The French toast wasn’t sweets so probably no sugar used but the bread was really good. Wouldn’t mind just eating it with the butter solo.
Overall good for the price. Worth a visit if you want something a step above simple for each toast in the...
