While traveling in Shinjuku from the US, my pregnant wife got tired, so I bought her a coffee to give her a chance to rest. After sitting down for just a minute, a staff member asked me to leave because I had only purchased one coffee for my wife. The café had plenty of open seats, so there was no need to rush us out. This was the first time I’ve ever been treated this way at a coffee shop. Read moreThe coffee was good, and the staff answered my questions about food, even though I speak little Japanese. However, when a delivery guy called me, and I talked to him for short time (I just asked him to leave my package outside, it was like seconds), I got scolded by the staff! There are no visible signs saying that the phone cannot be used in the shop! And a group of people nearby was making much more noise that I did. I understand that talking on a phone can bother other clients. But at least put up stickers "no calls please" instead of waving hands and getting angry with your clients. Read moreThe atmosphere was fine, nothing special but nothing bad. However, the tuna sandwich was awful. Worse though was their “mocha”. I truly believe the barista made a mistake and gave me cocoa (watery cocoa at that). There was absolutely no espresso in it.
First, she argued, explaining what mocha was. 🤣🤣🤣. Then, she said, “this is Japanese mocha.” Well, not according to Tully’s, Doutor, Pronto, … and the numerous smaller shops in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kanagawa, …. You get the idea.
