We came across ROBATA after several other restaurants were fully booked. We saw it listed as Italian food and decided to give it a try. From the outside and being on the second floor, the restaurant may go unnoticed from the street. However, once you step inside, you’re transformed into a unique and memorable environment - vibrant yet intimate, full of character, and with a classy primitive vibe. With seating surrounding the open kitchen, guests have the pleasure of watching the skillful chef’s prepare protein and other sides on a primitive, open charcoal fire.
Along with the atmosphere, the staff and chefs were very friendly and hospitable.
ROBATA served up the best tasting food and the best culinary experience we had during our 7 day trip to Japan (our first visit to Japan). I see some cool hip people around, but they seem to not know how pasta should taste… not sure what’s going on. Even the wine selection was poor and flat. The only good thing was the pudding dessert.
