We arrived at this store around 6:15, no reservation. There were only 3 other tables there before us. We were told that we could take a seat, provided we left by 8, as there was a large reservation coming in. We agreed. We ordered the peking duck around 6:30 (I remember checking my phone, as the menu states that the duck can take up to 30min to cook) Our drinks hit the table 5-10 minutes later, but, come 7:00, our food was no where to be seen. To be fair, at this point, we should have asked about it; instead, we gave then the benefit of the doubt, and ordered a desert, telling them to bring it whenever. It arrived in 5 - 10min. Still no duck. 7:30 rolls around, and a waitress comes over to ask us if we have any last orders. We inform her that we were, in fact, still waiting on our first order. (Again, I realize we should have pursued this earlier) At this point, the restaurant is full. A waiter comes to us and apologizes profusely. He tells us that he will bring our food shortly, but he just needs us to switch to another table, because the one we're on is reserved. We declined the offer, paid for our drinks and the desert in full (neither of which we finished) and left. The waiter who greeted us, seated us and apologized to us at the end of the night was very professional and lovely. Sadly, I can't say the same about the overall service (or the food, since we didnt wind up eating there) I dont think that I'll be returning...
Read moreThe pekin duck is truly tasty, which is why I gave the extra star. But the truth is that everything else is mediocre. We ordered sparkling wine. Our bad. There is no wine cooler. Which would be bearable, except the wine turned up room temperature. Spending over 4000 yen on a room temperature bottle of sparkling wine makes me sad. I tried asking staff for a wine cooler, but there wasn’t one… except last time we came they managed to fashion us one out of a fishing bucket. So basically, it depends on how well the staff understand you (there are school age kids working here who don’t speak great Japanese), but as much as I love the duck I don’t want to come back because it just makes me sad every time. But the duck is delicious so if you just drink soft drinks and eat...
Read moreThis was fantastic. It's on the 6th floor, accessible by one of 2 elevators on the outside of the building.
We went there for the duck which we'd been told was excellent. We were not prepared for the sheer size of it! The duck is huge and they also stir fry the remaining meat and make a soup from the bones so there is a lot of food! We bought extra food (fried rice, shrimp and dumplings) not knowing this and we were so full! Everything was so good though.
You order by QR code which is good for the language barrier though you can order with the staff if you wish.
All in, it's an excellent place even for English speakers and I highly...
