As a tourist to Japan, this is the restaurant that I have the worst experience of. One waiter named Jeff in the restaurant has low quality and very bad attitude.
When my friend and I first entered the restaurant to order, he kept urging us. When my starter arrived, it was found to contain my allergy, which was not listed on the menu, so I had no idea. After we finished explaining the situation, the waitress was thoughtful enough to help me change the dishes, and I was very grateful.
Later, the waitress told me that there were my allergic substances in the main dish and asked me if I should change them. At that time, Jeff came to us very rudely and interrupted our conversation, and told me very strongly that it could not be changed, and lied to me that there were no allergic substances I mentioned in the main dish. After I confirmed it again, he still insisted that there was no, so I assured myself that I could not change them. After waiting for another ten minutes, Jeff came to me and told me that there were just a little allergic substances in the main dish and he thought I wouldn't be allergic. It's ridiculous! Then he still could not change my dish, and he asked me to change it with my friend's dish.
I really don't understand why Jeff came from another area to interrupt our conversation when another waitress was communicating with us. At that time, it was the best opportunity to communicate with the kitchen before the food was served, which could obviously improve the customers' experience, but it caused a terrible experience for us. Once again, this is an allergen problem, and the staff did not pay attention to it and tried to cheat, which is a serious dereliction of duty!
The taste of dishes are good, but due to the bad service experience, I can not raise any interest in the dishes of this restaurant and felt so sad. I hope the restaurant owner can pay attention to it, and also give tourists a reminder, suggesting that the choice of restaurants during the trip should...
Read moreLet me start off with the fact that my partner and I were incredibly excited to dine at GingerGrass, having heard good things about it online.
When you walk in, you’re greeted with quite a fancy lobby, complete with waterfalls and ponds- all delusions of grandeur. This restaurant unfortunately cannot live up to its impressive visuals and atmosphere.
We were sat quickly by a lady who appeared to be the manager, who was constantly talking through a headset “walkie-talkie”- despite the restaurant being quite empty. The appetisers and drinks we had were actually very nice, giving us quite the false sense of security as to what was to come.
Our mains arrive, delivered by the same manager, still discussing unknowns into her walkie-talkie. I had ordered the Pad Thai (can’t really go wrong), and my partner had opted for the Ban Xao (a savoury pancake). We were collectively astounded by what was placed in front of my partner. The plate was incredibly large and was COMPLETELY covered in bean sprouts. Ok, I get it, this dish is supposed to have stir fried bean sprouts but this was excessive. Think Nicocado Avocado mukbang, but instead of burgers and noodles, it’s bean sprouts. Just a mountain of bean sprouts. The Everest of bean sprouts. The dish should’ve come with a complimentary Sherpa the way I would’ve needed help to climb it. Even if you did somehow reach the summit, what would you find? What treasures await? You know when you cook pancakes and the first one always turns out looking undesirable? Mhm. Ok fine, what about underneath where we were promised meats and seafood? Undercooked prawns and pork that had lost its battle with a pot of boiling water.
My Pad Thai was nice. It was a Pad Thai. Nothing more nothing less.
We decided to get the bill and make an exit, hoping to forget the experience. Unfortunately would not recommend. Excuse the jokes one must make to make light of this experience- I have to laugh...
Read moreAt first I was delighted to see a Thai restaurant open in the spot vacated by El Torito in the lower level under the Park Century Hotel. After trying their offerings, I am not so delighted.
I tried two items: Fried Rice-Paper Spring Rolls and Pad Thai. Although I am used to regular rice paper wrap, not fried, the spring rolls were okay. The filling was not great as it had a fairly bland taste, but it wasn't bad. The dipping sauce was good.
The pad thai...well...not good. The noodles had been overcooked and completely soft with little body to them. The tofu was barely stir-friend and was still cool to touch. The egg was chewy and in big clumps sort of scattered on top. As well, it seems they used no seasoning at all in cooking it. It seemed to be missing everything that ought to go into pad thai while cooking it such as: rice vinegar, peanut, soy sauce, shallot, ginger. As for plate presentation, mushy noodles with chunks of scrambled eggs and white tofu squares. No chopped peanut, no lime, no dry spice to sprinkle.
While the table service was okay, when the person came to take my payment, she could see that I had only taken a few bites of the meal - I told her it was unpleasant and I couldn't eat it. She apologized, but made no...
