This was hands down the best unagi I've ever had. While the lunch set sounded great, I chose a different set just to try the fried eel bone—and it did not disappoint! It was crispy and flavorful. The unagi paired with the sour cucumber was fantastic, and while the eel liver wasn’t to my taste, the unagi don was absolutely exceptional.
Unlike some cheaper unagi, which can be gooey on the outside or have unappealing skin, or sometimes overcooked and burnt, this eel was cooked to perfection. The first bite on its own was already delicious, but adding green onion and wasabi brought out even more vibrant flavors. Turning it into ochazuke was a great touch as well.
I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who loves...

Just a note: The broth was very mild, almost like water. Same goes for the “soup” (not sure if it was a soup or a broth as well). I preferred eating the dish without the broth, but I can imagine how a more savory broth can elevate the dish further. I still finished most of the broth because it seemed healthy to me and it’d be a waste...

The Unagi was grilled to perfection; flavourful tender, melt in your mouth kind. I also recommend the grilled chicken thigh, if the Unagi is not enough and you want different texture of protein.
Two of us ordered one Hitsumabushi set, one 5 piece rice bowl set, one plain unagi and grill chicken thigh.
It's also interesting how you can savour the Hitsumabushi in 3 ways.
We walked in and lucky the lunch...
