Indian Restaurant-Saffron Ikebukuro（インド料理サフラン池袋） — Restaurant in Tokyo

We were very well looked after here. Although we love to eat Japanese food when visiting Japan, it's nice to have a variation occasionally and this very authentic Indian restaurant fit the bill perfectly. The samosas we had to begin were large with crisp shells and tasty filling, and the chicken tikka was tender, perfectly flavoured and accompanied by a spicy onion side which I had not had previously. When I commented how I enjoyed it, I was offered another sample alongside another mixed vegetable pickle which was equally delicious. We then had various curries which were delicious and beautifully prepared, alongside the biggest naan I have ever seen, and light fluffy basmati rice. We found this empty restaurant and were very skeptical but we were very hungry and decided to eat anyways. I really wish we had left. The food was fantastic and we got chillies along with an Indian salad and pickle. Chai was so good. Everything was going fine till they cleared our plates. That’s when I saw it. The guy turned and looked back at me and then just took the left over pickle in the tiny bowl and put it right back in the jar. Had the vegan meal set, the dal curry had a bit of smell and taste of something not fresh (almost getting bad) and I didn’t like the vegetable curry at all. I couldn’t get naan with my meal, but had chapati which was not very tasty. Dessert included in the meal is a truffle from those family packs of an unknown brand (!!). I left behind. I went with two other people who had Osama set and ladies set, they enjoyed the naan but the rest was passable. My meal was not worth the price of ¥1,680. I prefer much more other Indian restaurants which are cheaper and much tastier (at least I...
