If you like oysters, this is the place to go in Ginza. While most people have to think of Ginza as expensive, stopping here for lunch is an affordable treat for oyster lovers. For lunch, the oysters were prepared in seven different ways and it was only about 3500 yen or $25 USD. This was on a Sunday so the weekday specials were even cheaper.
The point of coming here is not to get a whole ton of seafood at cheap red lobster like prices. What you received were fresh briny oysters. If you are an oyster connoisseur, I highly recommend using Google translate and trying the fresh oysters from multiple regions in Japan. The restaurant is a bit hard to find because it’s in a basement level, and none of the signs are written in English. It is not the kind of restaurant that caters to tourist, but that’s the charm of this place. If you go here, you might be the only non-Japanese person to frequent this restaurant that week. Do not expect the staff to speak English or to be able to explain things to you well. Even if you struggle with Japanese, this is worth...
Read moreLast evening in Tokyo before morning flight back to JFK and we wanted some fresh Japanese oysters 🦪 to top off a great trip. Private rooms and some of the best, freshest, cleanest, creamy, not-too-briney, oysters ever sampled. Raw, butter roasted, w/ melted cheese, fried, shabu-shabu, steamed, salted, pate, clay pot rice style, and a few we may have left out. All oysters were ocean fresh, service was excellent (private room with a service request button - server appeared almost instantly 😯). Also had a filet mignon that was tender and beefy. Finished with a fruit and jelly dessert. We're from NYC, but NYC doesn't have an oyster specialist like this , sorry GC Oyster Bar. This is the place to go in Tokyo if you need an oyster fix. About 24,000 yen with 2 beers, $165...
Read moreThe food is good and this restaurant is quiet and comfortable. But I think the waiter/ waitress can be more professional and polite. Don’t think that I am not fluent in Japanese can mean that they can speak ‘too causally’ in front of me. I can tell what’s going on.
And the picture is the two oysters set. And the four...
