Worst place I have experienced in Japan and still it manages to be the most expensive restaurant on the entire holiday (approx YEN ('000) 70). The food was at it's best eatable. Pretentious but nothing to build this confidence upon.
There were pieces of shell from the sea urchin in the appetizer - as eating an egg with pieces of shell. The second starter was as you see it: asparagus with bresaola or Parma (I think it was). The lobster was indeed char coal grilled but to an extend where the burned flavour were more penetrating than the lobster itself. The Kobe sirloin was ordered to be medium rare but came as medium. Not normally something that would raise any remarks but when ordering Kobe I'm expecting it to be cooked to perfection. The truffles were bland and tasteless. The pasta however, were cooked to perfection. Not many words spend on the dessert. It was mostly a standard mango sorbet.
If the waiter cannot recognize any of this feedback it is simply because he never asked.
Local guests were loud and disturbing. The staff seemed mostly as they wanted to be anywhere else than serving guests. The interior was plastic furniture in the most bright tourqoise and pink colours matching the plastic plates in bordeaux.
The prices on the menu card cannot be trusted - even after requesting the specific price from the restaurant manager - as tax and service charges are added. Not an insignificant amount and not stated anywhere in the menu card.
All together - I had hoped for the above kind of feedback instead of a 4,6 score that made us visit the restaurant. That is the main reason I'm leaving...
Read moreOverall very disappointed. I read the good reviews here and didn’t do much research otherwise before booking the place for my Tokyo trip. It turns out to be a disaster.
The good: service is okay. The bad: almost everything else. The food is not fresh: the fish tastes gamey. The bread tasted stale. The cooking is subpar: salty Kobe beef, taste just like regular beef; pasta is not even fully cooked(I can make better pasta at home); the foie gras used multiple sources but the flavor doesn’t taste well combined. The desert tasted cheap. Overall it tasted like a $50 USD/person meal instead of $250. The portion of beef is small for the price. For the price in Tokyo I expected more complete tasting menu. The restaurant decoration is old and not super clean; the bathroom is dirty.
Overall a unpleasant experience and a lesson learnt for myself. Share here so hope others can avoid similar...
Read moreMy partner and I are at the very end of our trip to Japan, and decided to try this place out - as we were very keen to try Kobe beef, and eat at a nice place to celebrate our holiday (and recent engagement!). We are SO glad that we did. The set menu was well-considered, with each course being just the right size, and the flavours marrying together so well in every dish; the Kobe beef was to die for; and the wait staff were perfectly lovely and very attentive, making sure to explain what went into each dish as they came out.
This was an absolutely special and unforgettable gourmet experience, and I couldn’t think of a better way to finish our trip. Thank you team! We will be dreaming of our meal when back home...
