A very nice place in the building right across from Tokyo Station. There was a bit of construction ongoing on the 7th floor; while there was no noise, some areas of the floor is not accessible. This restaurant is in the same area called Marunouchi House which also has a few other restaurants.
This restaurant’s entrance is actually through a small wine cellar that serves as a short hall. Quite common for some fancy reataurants but I liked how the cellar/entrance/hall (because of the needed constant temperature) cools you off on a hot summer day before entering the premises. There’s an indoor area with grand chandeliers lighting up the room, and the interior is quite elegant. But there are also quite a lot of terrace seats where you can enjoy your meal and drinks with a great view of the Tokyo Station building. I can imagine evening here must be real nice.
We had the lunch course which came with small hors d’oeuvre, salad, soup, a choice of main dish, drink and dessert. Everything was very delectable. (The Skirt Steak with creamy Mashed Potato cost an additional 500 yen.) The lack of choice for coffee as a drink was the only thing I thought was unfortunate.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. I do think the servers should speak up a little bit more as I couldn’t hear properly what we were being served. (To their defense, it had already started to become busy.) As a result, while I liked what I was eating, half the time I didn’t know what I was...
Read moreRigoletto Wine and Bar in Marunouchi offers a stylish and welcoming atmosphere, making it a great spot for social gatherings with friends and family. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
However, the tomato caprese was disappointing. The dish lacked the essential elements of a classic caprese—ripe, flavorful tomatoes and a proper pesto sauce. Instead, it featured unexpected ingredients like kiwis, strawberries, and grapefruit, which deviated significantly from the traditional recipe. Even more surprising was the additional charge for pesto sauce, which should ideally complement the dish without extra cost. While creativity in cuisine is appreciated, maintaining authenticity and consistency is equally important.
On the brighter side, the drinks were excellent—well-crafted and reasonably priced. The tiramisu was enjoyable, though it could have been elevated with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added richness.
Overall, Rigoletto Wine and Bar is a nice venue with a great ambiance and supportive staff, but there’s room for improvement in maintaining the authenticity of certain dishes. Hopefully, they refine their caprese recipe to better align with...
Read moreSomewhat overated. Once you see past the wine cellar entrance and chandeliers, you see a restaurant badly in need of renovation. Damaged paintwork all around, as well as worn-out and chipped tables and chairs. The wine cellar suggests they know what they are doing when it comes to wine, so why are reds served chilled to around 5°C? That's too cold even for most white wine. The service was slow with regard to our drinks. We had to wait almost 20 minutes for 3 glasses of wine and two beers. That's far too long. The group mostly ordered pasta, which was considered good. The steaks were cooked well but average in taste and quality. I'd like to say the atmosphere was "lively" but no, it was noisy. Far too noisy for a lunch, or even dinner. If it was simply a bar, then no problem, but the noise level plus the music made conversation without shouting almost impossible. We...
