Motenashiya Shinjuku Main Store — Restaurant in Tokyo

⚠️A COMPLETE DISASTER⚠️We visited this izakaya around 10:15 PM last night. The staff said the last order was at 10:45, which we accepted. A kind male waiter helped us order in English and served a small appetizer (macaroni salad) without mentioning any extra charge. We ordered sashimi, sushi, sukiyaki, and two alcoholic drinks in total.

However, the billing process was a disaster. The first bill charged us for double portions of every dish and quadruple the drinks and sukiyaki. After we pointed it out, a female staff hurriedly corrected it, but we still found two extra drinks on the new bill. She claimed there was a “2-drink minimum per person” rule, but this was never explained by the male waiter in English or with a translator.

When we refused to pay for drinks we didn’t order or consume, she became increasingly impatient and reluctantly revised the bill again. Before leaving, she used a translator to tell us we had to go immediately. Outside the restaurant, we noticed that even the appetizer—served only once—was charged per person, and the sukiyaki was also charged by headcount without prior notice.

In short: chaotic management, careless service, and extremely rude attitude from the female staff. Google Maps says ¥2,000–¥4,000 per person, but we nearly paid ¥10,000 each—and left angry. Not recommended at...

I think the high rating might be because the all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink options are quite cheap—around 3,000 yen per person. As foreign tourists unfamiliar with Japanese restaurants, we came here after shopping because the place had decent reviews and we were hungry.

However, we ordered from the regular menu and ended up spending nearly 5,000 yen , which didn’t feel worth it at all. Overall, it was quite disappointing. The environment was poor—our private room had a strong smell of vomit, and even the menu felt sticky. I really regret not leaving right away after noticing these things.

この日は３時間飲み放題付の、 肉炊きしゃぶしゃぶと和食料理、さらには肉寿司も食べ放題のコース。 ４，９８０円（税込）＠１名。

まずはじめは、 しゃぶしゃぶの野菜とお肉を一皿ずつと枝豆を持ってきてくれます。

和食料理食べ放題から ポテトフライとチキンカツを注文。

こちら揚げたてのほやほやで、結構いける感じ。

しゃぶしゃぶは 牛バラ肉、肩ロース、豚バラ肉、三元豚ロース、地鶏もも肉 の５種類が食べ放題。

野菜もキャベツや、長ネギ、シメジなど種類が多彩。

そのほかモッツァレラチーズなどもあります。
