Spincoaster Music Bar — Restaurant in Tokyo

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had in Tokyo. I asked two simple questions about the bar (since there was no prior guidance), but the staff brushed me off and blatantly told me to “read the menu” instead of simply answering “yes” or “no” — which would’ve been far more polite and efficient. The staff didn’t seem busy either; they were casually chatting with regulars. As someone who speaks Japanese, I could clearly tell they weren’t occupied with work, which made the dismissive attitude even more disappointing.

The music was good, but with service this poor and food that’s only average at best, it’s definitely not worth a visit. There are plenty of bars in Tokyo with far better hospitality — your time is better spent at one of...

What a fun concept, and a chill way to spend the night.

One advantage of the small spaces in Japan is perhaps that things can feel more communal. Provided the bar isn't packed, and you can barely hear the person sitting across from you. There was perhaps only 7 of us in the bar during our visit. And it was great to enjoy the music collectively as a whole.

There's a cover charge to enter. But you do get to select/rec a song for the bartender to play. And they have a whole wall of records to play with. Their selection is entirely curated, so I wouldn't be afraid to try something that might be different from what others have put on.

This bar is a short walk from yoyogi station. Another cool vinyl record music bar. I think they probably attract a younger clientele as I was definitely the oldest person there. Their Manhattan is called a New York 🤣 but tasted good. There is a small fee, but for that price you can select a record from their collection to play.
