Tucked away near the quieter edge of Ginza, Roar Coffee House is a hidden gem for coffee lovers who want both artistry and substance in their cup. The café’s signature rainbow lattes are every bit as photogenic as they are delicious—swirls of vivid color floating on perfectly textured milk, almost too beautiful to drink (almost).
Beyond the visual treat, Roar takes its beans seriously. Customers can choose from a thoughtful selection of single origins and blends, each roasted to bring out nuanced flavors—from bright, fruity Ethiopians to rich, chocolatey South Americans. The staff are knowledgeable without being pretentious, happy to guide you toward something that suits your palate.
If you need something sweet alongside your coffee, the Basque cheesecake is a must—so light and fluffy it feels like it could float right off the plate, with just the right balance of creaminess and gentle caramelized edges.
For central Tokyo, the value is remarkable. You get specialty coffee quality, creative presentation, and a relaxed atmosphere without the usual Ginza price tag. Whether you come for the Instagram-worthy latte art, the satisfying depth of flavor, or that heavenly cheesecake, Roar delivers on all fronts.
Verdict: A must-visit for coffee enthusiasts who appreciate craftsmanship, sweetness, and a dash of color...
Read moreROAR Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in Tokyo. I always make sure to get a pourover whenever I’m in Tokyo. To my surprise, they opened this new branch just a few steps away from my hotel. I was overjoyed when I saw this!
The cafe has 2 floors but we stayed downstairs when we visited. First visit: sat by the bar facing the windows, order took quite a while (got an iced pourover and ice cream). The coffee did not disappoint! Second visit: wanted to try something new so I ordered a hojicha espresso latte, so sad to say but this was really disappointing. The taste seemed pretty off and we waited a while for it to be ready! My friend ordered a hot hojicha latte but they served her an iced one instead.
The past branches I visited (Hatchobori and Ginza) were both very pleasant. Servers were kind and helpful. For this branch, they seemed pretty stressed with the amount of orders they were getting— when orders pile up, they make you wait a while before placing an order. Hope they fix this because I really love their coffee and I always recommend this cafe to friends visiting Tokyo. But lesson learned also for me: just stick to coffee and not their...
Read morecame in on a Sunday late-morning. first the place was very busy, but it emptied quickly. the waiting time was good so I could go through their incredible menu without rush. one can chose a coffee bean to match one‘s likings but also the recommendation of the barista is really good (in my case he recommended the bean I would‘ve chosen myself. bingo!). the recommendation of the bean will be based on the type of drink and milk that one choses, so everything is considered to have the coffee taste featured and balanced with all other tastes. for some options, oat milk, almond milk or soy milk are available. the menu offers many options, from drip coffee to other espresso based drinks (cortado, cappuccino, latte…), cold coffee drinks and some non coffee drinks, most likely everyone will find something! another highlight probably are the fancy coffee-milk drinks like charcoal latte, or the rainbow lattes (latter ones are available with regular milk...
