It’s so good, I went there twice during my short stay in Tokyo 👌
There are no reservations, so you will have to queue, but I promise you, if you enjoy tuna rice bowls (or tuna sashimi for that matter), you will not be disappointed. On my first visit at around 11am I queued for 38 minutes before I got a table. It was worth every second of that wait.
On my second trip to this restaurant, I got there 15 minutes before they opened at 10am - with 10 people in the queue in front of me - and was ushered in within moments of the door opening. I think the queue was shorter than usual that day because it was pouring with rain and very blustery.
I can confidently say that it’s the best raw tuna I have ever eaten - in Japan as well as anywhere else in the world - and I’ve eaten a lot of raw tuna 🤣
On my first visit, I opted for the ‘Chef’s select tuna bowl’ @¥2,400, which had an excellent selection of different cuts to savour.
On my second visit I tried the ‘Zuke bowl’ Sliced lean tuna marinated and ‘soaked’ in Zuke soy sauce, which almost melted in my mouth.
The Zuke bowl was amazing, but a tiny weeny bit too salty for my palate, so ease off on dipping it in too much extra soy sauce before putting it into your mouth. Still, before I knew it, my large bowl of tuna topped rice was empty and I was already craving another visit, as I was mentally adding SEAGEN to my must-visit restaurants on my next...
Read moreIt is one of the best places to get tuna in Tsukiji and some of the best we've had in Japan. Their specialty is, of course, tuna, and with how good they are at it why would you want to order anything else. They offer standard donburi bowls, and usually a special or two for the day. I usually get their two bowl option. They have an assorted sushi bowl and it's all good quality but the real star is the tuna, and while you might think 'oh, it's too much tuna' it's really not. It's just that good. There are some people complaining about the sushi rice in the donburis and yes, they do use more vinegar than some places do in their sushi rice but their tuna is such a high quality with such a nice fat content that it's good for cutting through that fat. So I think there's nothing wrong with how they season their rice. Get there early to try their zuke bowl otherwise it gets sold out very quickly, however, it's smaller version in the 'choose two' is usually still available at the end of the day. Do expect a bit of a wait time when you get there, the longest we've waited so far to get in is about 20-30 minutes which is honestly nothing compared to some...
Read moreUndoubtedly this has to be one of the most luxurious meals I’ve had in Japan, even though it’s not necessarily the most expensive.
I joined the queue at 1020am on a Sunday and had to wait 1.5hrs to finally be seated and get my food served. There will be a staff that takes your order while you’re queueing although you don’t have to pay first. There are also seats halfway through the queue which is a great touch for service.
The interior is actually very clean and modern looking. I was served quite quickly upon being seated, including some iced green tea. I ordered the premium tuna bowl which had probably 10 slices of various cuts of tuna, all generously thick. There was also mixed tuna on top. At the side, there were complimentary cooked tuna chunks, radish and a bowl of collagen soup. Everything was so fresh and delicious. To be honest, I did feel abit bored after awhile while the texture is different the taste is the same. And it got abit too heavy towards the end. Nonetheless, I’m very happy with the wait and what I got in...
