Tokyo Food Guide 🇯🇵 Budget-Friendly and Delicious Eats in Tokyo 🍦 💛 💛This is the first part of my Japan food guide, focusing on Tokyo. Stay tuned for Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe editions, where I'll recommend the most delicious and cost-effective spots. 1️⃣💚Sushi Mitusri Address: 1F, Yamashita Building, Ginza 7-2, Chuo-ku, Tokyo Sushi Mitusri is hailed as Tokyo's best value sushi spot. Fresh! Affordable! I discovered it through a Japanese TV show and visited the Ginza branch. It's a bit off the beaten path but offers incredible value. Mostly locals, no tourists. Even at 3:30 PM, I waited an hour and a half. The uni (sea urchin) is fantastic; you won't feel guilty eating multiple servings at this price. 2️⃣💚Suzukien (Asakusa Main Store) Address: 3-4-3, Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo Price: ¥370 for a single scoop / ¥470 for a double scoop Suzukien offers seven levels of matcha ice cream intensity, located just behind Senso-ji Temple. Don't miss the world's strongest matcha ice cream if you're a matcha lover. 💚Oyakodon OMG, this is so good! It's a chicken and half-cooked egg rice bowl! 3️⃣💚Satou Address: Ginza Itchome Hardly mentioned in travel guides, mostly frequented by office workers. Satou sells fried meatballs made from Japanese black beef. Their signature dish is the "Ganso Maru Fried Meat Patty," along with fried meat patty burgers, croquettes, and beef curry. Super delicious! 4️⃣💚Daiwa Sushi: Address: 5-2-1, Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo Daiwa Sushi is highly recommended and truly delicious! If you're staying in Ginza, it's just a short walk to Tsukiji Market. Despite arriving at 6 AM, Sushi Dai already had a four-hour wait, so I opted for the second best, Daiwa Sushi, which had a 45-minute wait. I wasn't particularly fond of tuna, but this one was so good it brought tears to my eyes! The sushi chefs' sense of humor is quite quirky; they laugh while making sushi. 5️⃣💚Sushi Dai: Ahhh, the first one was amazing, but if you don't line up by 3-4 AM, you won't get a seat. Next time, I must try it. 6️⃣💔Avoid: One Piece Theme Restaurant After visiting the One Piece theme park at Tokyo Tower, I dined at the theme restaurant. I admit, it was the worst meal I had in Japan. Completely tasteless and not even remotely related to One Piece in terms of presentation. @foodie @travelleader #Travel #Japan #ShoppingInJapan #JapanTravel #Foodie #Tokyo #TravelPhotography #FavoriteTravelDestinations #FoodLover #JapaneseRestaurant #Food

3 Days & 2 Nights by Tsukiji Market: What Did I Eat?

Amazing sushi. Just go for the 3500 Yen (~32 USD) set. Or if you're not hungry, take then 2000 Yen (~19 USD) set. But I suggest you arrive here hungry. ⏱There was a 45-minute wait, mostly Japanese people. 🐙I'm usually not a fan of ika nigiri (raw squid nigiri), but here it was delightful af. Zero chewiness, and instead very tender and subtle in taste and texture. I loved it. 🍣It goes without saying that all the fish sushi, nigiri & maki were amazing and exceeded expectations. ⚠️I got to say though that while the entire experience was amazing, the final piece of sushi was... very, very weird. None of us liked it, and to be honest, if this wasn't a Japanese restaurant where the chef is standing right in front of you, I would have spit out that final piece into a tissue. Instead, I braved my way through chumping it down as quickly as I could and washing it down with with plenty of green tea. I can't quiet describe it—it tasted the way cat food smells, just more unpleasant. I guess it's an acquired taste that real sushi aficionados appreciate, and probably rare (I've eaten sushi hundreds of times in my life, and never tasted anything like it), but I'd caution you to be careful with that last bite if that's what they always serve. No one in our group liked this last piece, and we were all baffled by the chefs choice to end the meal with that piece. But other than that, everything was great. 🙂Some people commented on their negative experience with the service, mentioning that they were under the impression that tourists are being seated upstairs in the cheap seats while Japanese people are being seated downstairs and get a better treatment. This was NOT our experience at all. As a group of foreigners, we were led downstairs and received great service—our sushi chef didn't speak English, so obviously there was not much conversation, but he was still very attentive. 📷There's a "no camera" policy inside the restaurant, so if you want to share your experience on insta, this is not the place for you. 🤔I've read from others in the reviews that this place is not special, and sushi of equal or even better quality can be found for the same price in many places in Tokyo—I'd challenge that. I'm sure these places exist, but having eaten in about 20+ different sushi places in Tokyo, some of them much higher-priced than this Sushidai, I have to say our experience here was exceptional and I will for sure return here every time I visit Tokyo. Highly, highly recommended!

I came here for lunch on Saturday and waited 60 min in line to enter. Sushi Dai was recommended to me by several people that have eaten here over the years and all of them were enthusiastic about it. I ordered the most luxurious set (most expensive), with a hot sake and per my choice the sea urchin sushi (uni). This set came with various set pieces of sushi and at the end you can pick two pieces of a list to your liking. The sea urchin is an additional 500yen, but definitely worth the try! The sushi itself is prepared right in front of you and placed in front of you one by one. You can see the chefs interacting with each other, with the customers and with the other staff. Everything is run extremely smoothly and they keep service and quality in high regards. In terms of flavour this is the best sushi I have ever had! Every bite melts on your tongue; Flavours were incredible; The fish was incredibly fresh and beautifully on display; The miso soup was by far the most flavourful one I have ever had and came with a shrimp head per bowl; I did however have one tiny fish-bone in one of my sushi pieces. Yet for the experience, flavour, quality and quantity you're getting this was by far the best sushi experience I have ever had. To second that, the menu that is listed here online is not accurate to the current one in terms of price. I definitely recommend everyone visiting here if you fancy original, freshly made Japanese sushi! For all this I paid just under 5500yen.
