Today we visited a rare whisky specialty restaurant in Tokyo! Each course of whisky and food pairing has its own story and is delicious and interesting! A compact introduction to a must-see restaurant for whisky lovers!
A word of warning! Whiskey bottles cover the entire wall! The only place in Tokyo where you can enjoy pairing whisky and food at a stylish bar and grill in Omotesando.
Access from Omotesando station A 5-minute walk from Omotesando Station. A quiet atmosphere just off the main street. It is located in a good location.
Seating Seating for two, table seating, and counter seating are available. Great for date night or with a group of whisky lovers.
Interior The whiskies lined up on the shelves are a sight to behold. There are many whiskies that I have never had before that I am interested in. There are always 1,300 kinds of whiskey in the store. How do you get the whisky from the high place? The interior is not too bright, but has a moody atmosphere, and the candles on the tables are very cute.
The food. The food and whiskey pairing course was very rare, and all the dishes were very delicious. What was very surprising was the variety of ways to drink the whiskey. I thought it would be straight, on the rocks, or with soda, but the whiskey served in a variety of ways was very rich in flavor, and it was a time when I learned more about whiskey. This course is recommended not only for whisky lovers, but also for those who are interested in whisky but would like to try a variety of whiskies.
I highly recommend this course to all whisky lovers and those who are interested in whisky but want to try different kinds of drinks! Menu Tuna couscous and iburigakko Original blend Nikka Whiskey with water The pairing of "Oak Aging" was very good. The original blend of Nikka Whiskey was aged in a barrel and served in a bamboo glass.
I was really surprised at the mellowness of the whiskey, which was finished by using a method commonly used for shochu called "pre-wari," in which the liquor and water are mixed together in advance and allowed to sit. I didn't know it could be this mellow,
I was told that water and whiskey are united at the molecular level, and I would like you to experience the taste. The staff, who are very knowledgeable about whiskey, taught me a lot about the dishes and whiskey, which was very informative.
It is also interesting to taste the couscous of the dishes and then drink it to get a different taste. I was able to learn more about whisky by tasting it with the dishes.
Price 10,000 yen The course consists of 6 dishes and 6 paired whiskeys. This price is very satisfying for the number of dishes and the volume. Recommended for anniversaries. Read moreThe Tokyo Whisky Library was AMAZING. I'm not one to write reviews but this restaurant/bar deserves to be known. They serve Wagyu beef as an appetizer and have the steak as an entree. They prepare it to perfection. The Wagyu beef was soft, smokey, and buttery to the point I wanted to close my eyes and just enjoy the flavor. We also had their special which was braised duck with winter greens which was also delicious. We ended with the smoked cheesecake and Oh My Goodness was it good! It was heavenly. The presentation was beautiful because it came in a glass casing on top of a solid maple cutting board. The cheesecake was Western style cheesecake, which meant it was sense instead of fluffy. It tasted like toasted marshmallows and was very well balanced with the almond cracker, raisins, and salt. Aside from the food, they had walls and walls of whiskeys on display which added to the ambiance. It was perfect for date night, conversation with friends, or just even quality happy hour. Did I mention there's happy hour? Everything was 30% off before 7:30pm. The staff was excellent and English friendly. They even offered us an umbrella because it was raining when we left. The portions were small but enough for me and my boyfriend to share two appetizers and a dessert and be satisfied. I would definitely come back again if...
Read moreReally cool whiskey bar close to Omotesando station (walking distance from Shibuya station). Huge whiskey menu for you to choose from and some food options. The prices range from decent to extravagant. They don’t have every whiskey you may want but they have more than enough for you to find something you’ll love. I asked for a recommendation and got a pretty glass of whiskey.
Not sure about English speaking staff but the menu was in English/Japanese. If you have any questions you may need to be able speak a little.
This place is fun for a drink but slightly hard to find and there isn’t much to do in the area if you go later on at night (but Shibuya is an easy walk downhill from here).
I’d recommend a reservation if you want a seat that isn’t at the bar, but I went at night on the weekend so maybe it will be less crowded on weekdays or at an earlier time.
One thing to consider: They allow smoking inside and many people in Japan smoke, so be ready for a smoky atmosphere if you’re unlucky and end up being surrounded by tables of hard drinking business men. ...
