This restaurant specialises in serving Yonezawa beef, which is kind of high graded beef in Japan.
The location is not easy to be found for tourists. We asked at the information in the station to save time searching for it in the maze.
We went there at 3pm, no queue. There were quite a lot of options in the menu, and a special summer course menu was available too. The different between the dishes are: choose the beef (red meat/sirloin/steak, etc) + how you’d like the meat to be prepared (shabu shabu/ sukiyaki/pan fried/served in bento).
We ordered 4 different courses which covered different parts of meat and cooking methods. We all agreed that sukiyaki was the best. Just a friendly reminder to foreigners that cooking time is the key so that you wouldn’t overcook and waste the meat. Medium is the best.
The appetisers of the courses were average, while the quality of the main dishes was no joke (provided that you didn’t overcook them). Sirloin was much better than red meat. When we had finished the beef, the waitress gave us another round of beef. So the portion was very generous indeed.
Very satisfied with the food. While due to the English proficiency of the waitress, it took some time to place our order and she missed some of our food order. And as a restaurant that offered great food, it would be better to pay more attention to details such as checking if they need to refill water, to collect the empty dishes more promptly. They didn’t know how to handle Union Pay (esp. cards only with chip but not the magnetic tape) which was also a small hiccup...
Read moreAn absolute perfect dinner, every time! We have visited this place several times during our trip to Japan, it is the best meat ever! We’ve been through Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka - this place has been most stable and most fantastic in its food, service and atmosphere, this has my firm recommendation for anyone coming close to Tokyo station. We have completely fallen in love with the dinners at both 5.500 yen and 14.000 yen. We’ve dinned here a lot and its always cooked to perfection, if you visit as a European/Westerner, these two will not fail your tongue! The meat will melt on your tongue at medium rare and the rice will have the nice taste of its juices, a clear win. Throughout this journey, I’ve noticed that the Japanese doesn’t order these items, they’ll rather go for the more rough and cheaper items on the menu, not quite my taste and I assume many Westerners share this opinion. So make sure, if you come here, start out with the box set at 5.500 yen, its not too pricy and you’re ensured an awesome meal. Thank you for making this dinner all the times we’ve been here now, which is a lot, and thank you to the kind staff. Most recommended place by me in...
Read moreMy friend recommended this restaurant to me for a year. I come to visit this time when I in Japan. I visit today to order Sukiyaki with $8500 yen, and my wife order Shabu Shabu with same price $8500 yen. Two order almost the same except the main course. The most delicious is one of the raw beef Sushi and my Sukiyaki beef. Although two order are same price, but the Shabu shabu beef are very bad, no marble fat, no wagyu beef taste.
When I ask to the manager, he told me Sukiyaki order is mid range beef(3 levels), shabu shabu beef is low level(2 levels). But my point is , two meals price are ssme, why quality is far away different. He not answer and run away. We left half of beef in dish and Finish the dinner. I paid full price and left. Then the manager come to us after payment. And give two bags of their beef snack to us. I remember last time in kyoto, same price with excellent quality sukiyaki. Therefore, I will never go again, and nor recommend to you as well.
It not related to the language problem, it is the quality of the beef in...
