Artsy Cafe — Restaurant in Borneo

We are from KL. We had the pleasure of visiting ARTSY CAFE in Kota Kinabalu Sabah recently, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment the order was taken, we were greeted with a warm smile and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere by Ms. Yuky.

☕ The teh tarik was super nice rich, aromatic, and made to perfection definitely one of the best cups I’ve had in a while. 🥐 The pastries were fresh and deliciously presented. I highly recommend the Scramble Egg Croissant one of my favourite items here, it was divine! 🌿 The ambiance is calm and relaxing, perfect for catching up with friends or getting some quiet work done. The music was soft, the lighting was just right, and every detail was thoughtfully curated. 🧑‍🍳 The team were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do.

I recently visited this cafe with high hopes but unfortunately left disappointed. Upon entering, there was a lack of warmth from the staff; no greetings or smiles were extended. Despite holding my baby, there was no offer for a baby chair, and when I requested one, I was directed to retrieve it myself. Throughout the ordering process, I felt a reluctance from the staff, especially when I asked for a custom tea order. Additionally, the lack of assistance in retrieving basic condiments like chili sauce was unexpected, as I've never encountered such a situation in other establishments.

Moreover, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. The nasi lemak, in particular, was bland and unappetizing. Overall, the experience fell short of what I've come to expect from cafes in terms of service and food quality. I wouldn't recommend this cafe to others, as it left much to be desired. Despite my disappointment, I hope this feedback helps them improve their customer experience...

Food is generally okay (edible but not great) but definitely overpriced even considering that it’s a fairly touristy area. On my last visit, I was given spaghetti bolognaise that smelled and tasted sour, which meant it’s obviously gone bad. The staff told me that it was the cheese , and it’s meant to taste and smell like that (spoiler: it’s not). They’d reluctantly remade the spaghetti (this time without the spoiled cheese) but if you genuinely think parmesan is supposed to taste sour, I don’t think you should be selling food at...
