Today was the first time I came to Jesselton Duty Free to shop. I was curious as I have heard about it.
First impressions was that, it was quite a quiet and private place. I parked my car and immediately at the basement I realised that there was only one shop. Proceeded up and explored further. I saw that it is quite small and one can cover the place very quickly. On the first floor is where you have eateries, wine shop but for the most just empty shop lots looking for tenants.
What I like about the place is that it is cheaper to buy compared to elsewhere in town. As a start, we are paying for the goods without duty and on top of that as tourist, we got additional 5% rebate off the bill. We received excellent customer service at every touch point.
What I didn’t like was that it was just too small. Looks big on the outside but disappointing when you go in. It’s like a melting pot of brands. Trying to squeeze as much brand in the small space as possible. I couldn’t spend an entire day there with so many vacant shop lots.
Overall, I would come back to look for good deals but I just don’t see myself spending a long time there. I woule give this place another chance to...
Read moreA disappointing visit to this clown of a store.
Recently visited with high hopes of finding some skincare and perfumes as gifts for my relatives here, but my experience was far from luxurious. As I wandered through the counters, it quickly became apparent that the overall atmosphere felt more akin to a ghost town than a high-end shopping destination with all the staffs standing and just talking amongst each other with dull eyes like a gaping fish out of water, unaware of its surroundings.
The displays were dusty, and the product information was lacking. It seemed as though the store was staffed by individuals who would be better suited for a food stall, where customer service is less about luxury and more about self service. The lack of professionalism and attention to detail was overwhelming; it felt like the essence of luxury was completely nonexistent.
I left feeling underwhelmed, convinced that if you're looking for a true luxury shopping experience, you should seek out a store where the commitment to quality and expertise is evident. Unfortunately, this joke of a department store (if you could even call it that), did not deliver and it was a very disappointing...
Read moreWhat a dismal mall which only has Pound as it's saving grace. Last night, a few of us were stuck and couldn't exit the premises as a couple had their ticket not coming out of the machine. The poor security guard tried to call the parking operator to no avail and it was due to there was no one in the office at all! Nobody even picked up the mall phone number.
Finally, the Secure Parking employee from the Riverson branch came in and even he cannot answer why there was no one at the Jesselton Mall office when there was no reason for people to be missing. Only managed to exit the mall around 30-40...
