We read the good reviews and walked in for lunch. However, the lunch sets shown on Google Maps were no longer available, and the RM70-omakase was the only option now. The chef and the waitresses were welcoming, so we decided to give it a try nonetheless. Having inquired about our food restrictions and preferences (like the level of spiciness), the chef prepared for us a flavourful and appetizing 6-dish lunch with fish, prawns, and vegetables. They also served fresh coconut water, lemonade, and honey lemon drinks, but these are not included in the set price. The dishes were nice, and the waitresses were attentive. Having tried the lunch, we wondered what dinner would be like, so we reserved a table for dinner the next day. The chef recommended the Sabah giant grouper for our dinner omakase, which almost doubled the price to RM130/pax, plus RM80 for an extra giant tiger prawn. The warm salad and the stir-fried Sayur Manis, a Borneo-exclusive vegetable, were pleasant surprises. My parents used to buy fresh seafood at the morning fish market near our home, and they found the grilled sotong (squid) very fresh and yummy. The manager also came to check on us to make sure everything was alright. This shows that they truly care about the quality of their food. Lunch and dinner at this price are considered pricey in Malaysia, but if you have the budget and prefer to enjoy hearty seafood delicacies prepared by a chef who respects food at a decent, comfy, and homey bistro, this is the...

This is one of those places that if you truly want the best the chef can prepare and having each dish carefully curated is the place to go. The menu changes and is based on the catch of the day and the chef carefully plans all accompanying courses with this in mind. I love the concept of being able to select from a huge selection wine and/or saki from ne,t door and charge no corkage fee. Mutual respect between two shops.

Now onto the food itself. It's an explosion of amazingness. Some of the best food ive eaten around the world and wish more places like this exist. The chef ŕeally cares about the food quality and product and the detailed care and attention given shows in the final product on the plate and the taste is non explainable. But simply magnificent.

In general I love no menu restaurants and base everything on seasonal produce and this place truly makes it memorable. It's a shame we only went once before leaving Kota Kinabalu but definitely to return if I'm back in the area and I hope more people visit the exceptional place.

It's a small place and reservations required.

All in on 5 stars is not enough and keep it up chef and team....

Though I had to walk around at the block looking for Fisherman’s Den nearly 20 mins, though my food was only served after waiting for an hour (being told clearly and I insisted to stay put), no regret at all after tasting Chef Jacko’s creation ! All dishes are made with passion of whole heart of Jacko! As insignificant as the side dish - local greens and black fungus with vinegar is refreshing and go perfectly with other main dishes ! (I even asked for more 👍) My personal favourites must be all fish dishes - fish is totally fresh ! The steam one comes with the good quality soy sauce - not too sweet, not too salty, simply full of natural soy sauce fragrance ! The deep fried one is amazing coz it pairs wonderfully with drinks!! 🤩 I wish that more drinks are to be added to the menu, like wine, sake and a few more types of beer…..let’s everyone taste the Freshness of Sabah !!! Additional tips: take the lift and go up to 1/F, as it’s located at 1-36 ! Book in advance to secure the availability and not to be disappointed as you may not be as lucky or persistent as me 😉 Last but not least, I...
