The Crab House Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Borneo

We visited the Crab House a few days ago for a family dinner after getting some stuffs from the shops at Suria Shopping Center. In all we had 6 dishes (a bit too much); we had fried crabs, hot&spicy soup, jellyfish, broccoli (with sea cucumber of course), steam grouper and another veggie. We paid just bit over rm400. While it was fair, the overall experience fell short of a 5-Star.

What would have made it a 5-Star, you might ask? The place is small, and unpleasant smell would travel fast. The service fee is normal but we expected excellent service e.g. have the waitress bath the fish etc (u see the meat is thick - value for $$ but it also means the taste can be pale if not bath with the accompanying broth or sauce). If you are paying an international tourist's price and you need to be served accordingly, right? Hence, local tourist might not appreciate this place appropriately.

Anyhow, we're in a pandemic, so I believe my view is bias. Its not really fair to judge people under pressure (scan, sanitise, QR, mask, etc...). Maybe we might give a 5-Star for the restaurant's takeaway option. But that is for another time. Till then, strive for...

Overpriced, conning Chinese style seafood place. It’s a place meant for tourists from China. I was expecting a regular maybe slightly pricer than norm dinner but ended up paying a ridiculous price. Ordered the salted egg squid (rm 30), vegetables (rm15), big bottle of tiger beer (rm 30). Firstly they didn’t post the beer prices on the wall (as most local restaurants would usually do!) so it was my mistake to assume a standard beer pricing according to other Chinese restaurants I.e. RM 16-22. But this was too much. Charged a service charge of 10% and a 6% government sales and service tax. I’m going to have to report them to authorities on the tax charges as usually places aren’t allowed to charge a service tax on top of the regular government tax. Avoid this place and find some...

We went to this restaurant yesterday. Recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, it was a horrible experience. Even we were the only customers, we've got our food served after half an hour sitting there while munching salted peanuts which we didn't know chargeable and being observed by the serving staffs. We also charged for the watermelon juice which supposedly a complimentary. As a local, I was dissappointed with the service and the price. This was the first and definitely the last experience with The Crab House. Not recommend this...
