The Bab's Korean Restaurant — Restaurant in Borneo

In 2024, I came here to eat Korean food. Admittedly, there were lots of free side dishes and they tasted really good, but the overall experience wasn’t pleasant. The lady boss treated foreign (Western) customers much better, and since we looked Asian, she basically ignored us. She seemed to care a lot about how customers rated her food, but again, she only cared about the opinions of foreigners. Back in 2024, I told myself I would never come back, because the experience was terrible.

A year later, in 2025, my friend and I had already eaten dinner and were full, but we suddenly craved the side dishes from this place. Despite the bad experience a year ago, we decided to come again just to satisfy our craving.

While we were looking at the menu outside, one of the staff came out and told us that free side dishes were included. Since it was just the two of us, we ordered only one bowl of kimchi soup.

About 15 minutes later, the kimchi soup was served—but the side dishes never came. All the staff were free and chatting among themselves, showing no intention of bringing us the side dishes.

Maybe they thought that since we only ordered one bowl of soup, we didn’t deserve the side dishes. Only after I asked them did they finally bring some out—but the portion was pitifully small. It was really disappointing.

I was already disappointed once in 2024. I thought things might be different in 2025, but it turned out even worse.

I used to eat a few times at this Korean BBQ at Jesselton Quey when they just opened, the owner lady is very nice. They have many good side free appetisers, they used to be good. However, I believe they have many businesses now, try to rush all their dishes. Very disappointed with their BBQ beef this time,, their staff used the fire gun to burn the meat instead of having it grilled, I asked to grill ourselves when we ordered but the staff said we hard to grill ourselves and let their staff to do it can be better, with the fire gun to cook & burn 🔥the meat for long, the meat became very very hard and extremely dry with burn smell. Due to the pricey prime beef we ordered, we still try to finish as much as we can. This meal cost us RM213 for 2 slices of prime beef & a seafood pancake with 3 rices. Look through the review it seems like the side dish are refillable for few times but when it come to our turn , the side dishes can only be refilled once with selected item only- we are only allowed to choose a few..:Food is slow and the owner keep staring at us , overall dining experience is bad. Also , owner claimed that the visa terminal is not working and we forced to pay by bank transfer to owner’s own account . Is a bit suspicious as the terminal is not even working (seems it is not fixed till today, I visited a week ago , also same issue ) and the money is directly transferred to owner own bank instead .
