Read moreWe visited Cheng Meng Cafe for its Wan Tan Mee recently, and although it was quite a wait for our order to arrive we were quite pleased with the popular, well-established Penang street food.
The cafe only opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 1pm but it’s best to arrive early as, at times, they will stop the order earlier than their schedule.
They practise a queue system where we were given a table number upon arrival. Once our table was available we were asked for our orders before taking our seats at the designated table. Another wait staff then approached us for the beverage order.
We ordered both dry and wet wan tan mee versions. Of course, one can call add-ons such as extra wan tan dumplings or barbecued pork strips.
For drinks, they offered limited choices. Unfortunately, they don’t offer black coffee or Nescafe, so we ordered hot Lo Han Kuo drink.
The coffee shop is small and can only accommodate a few tables.

I needed to order from a man who was the order taker. I was told there were 15 orders ahead of mine, and he asked me if I was ok to wait for 45 minutes. In actual fact, this wad not the first time I ordered here, the old chef usually could process 1 order in 2 minutes abd therefore waiting time should be 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I was correct and took my order.
White sauce wonton mee was fantastic. Its sauce was so addictive and the noodle was bouncy. I could finish the whole bowl without ingredients. Ingredients were so generous. Charsiew and wonton were above average. 4 stars
Suikow dumpling set was 4 pieces. It was delicious and tasted very close to the siewmai of dimsum. The soup was clear, and i didn't feel thirsty after the meal. 4 stars
Total bill RM16 for one white wonton noodle and 4 pieces of dumpling. Reasonable.
FYI, this stall only opens 3 days only, from...
