I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Penang Farquhar Bar, located in the Eastern & Oriental Hotel in Penang, Malaysia. I must say, the overall experience was delightful, with a combination of charming ambience and decent cocktails.

The moment I stepped into the bar, I was immediately struck by its elegant and sophisticated atmosphere. The colonial-inspired decor, combined with classic furnishings, created a timeless charm that transported me to a bygone era. The warm and inviting lighting further enhanced the ambience, making it a cosy and comfortable space to unwind and enjoy a drink.

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the selection of cocktails available at Penang Farquhar Bar. While the cocktails may not have been mind-blowing or exceptionally unique, they were certainly decent. 🟡 I came here many years ago to E&O Hotel with a friend when we were visiting Penang for 4 days.

⬛️ We were then staying in a central downtown hotel and came to this area, and we stumbled upon this bar inside the E&O Hotel.

🤎 The bar room looks so inviting and warm looking, so we sat down to have some tea and coffee. 🟫 I ordered a cafe latte and unwind in the bar room for quite a while. 🟨 It was so relaxing and nice to look out the window and see the sea view.

● I am sharing throwback pics from years ago, I hope it is okay. 💜 It is because I have lovely memories of this Farquhar Bar Room. ✳️ From recent photos, it looks like the bar room has been renovated extensively.

Members of staff stared at my mum and I with bad and arrogance attitude, unbelievably right at the moment we walked in. The menus were handed to us in a “look down” kind of way while we were friendly and smiling at them, I’m not sure if it’s because we are asians or what; because they seemed to be smily to white people next to us. I was asking about mock-tails for my mum as she cannot have alcohol but the bar member of staff who took the order could not provide details of ingredients and names of the drinks when asked, she just literally said “we will just put in anything we have there”, lack of competence and manner.
