Food was not bad. Service needs work. Happy to pay the prices, but staff are not trained to serve at this level. They are all well meaning, but need more training in my opinion, given this is set out as a high end steakhouse.
First I was pointed to a table in a private room with a party, like just me alone with them. Was quite odd. So I asked to be moved outside and they happily obliged. But I wasn't sure why they didn't just ask where I wanted to sit as the place was not even 1/4 full. But no big deal, just each of the following points all are up.
They didn't have the meat I wanted. But I didn't hold that against them as they had the other choices.
My waiter did his very best, but couldn't understand me. He didn't think to offer to find a colleague so I managed to get the idea across to find someone who could speak and understand English.
I asked for sparkling water. They said they didn't have it, it was only used to make the mocktails. Eventually they went to ask if they could sell me a can of soda water for the price of a sprite. So I finally did get what I asked for, but not sure why that wasn't offered first.
I asked what the side dishes options were to choose from when having the steak. They said it just came with what it came with (mash potato and vegetables). I asked for fries and they said it didn't come with fries.
Then, again, we got there in the end when they said they could charge for extra for a side of fries. Again - I cheerfully got the outcome I wanted, but it took some effort getting there.
Then the fries arrived with my starter, not with the main. So I sent it back so I could enjoy hot fries with my meat. If I was the waiter I'd think to ask if it was meant to be a starter or with the main, even though clearly from the context of our chat I wanted it with the meat.
The meat was good and the sauces it came with too. Vegetables were cooked really nicely and tasted good, not overcooked, although they were cold, so timing in the kitchen needs work, so that one part is not cold by the time the other part is served.
The mash tasted good too. I wasn't sure why they couldn't just swap fries for mash like in most other places. But it was good.
I had to fish out my knife and fork from a cutlery box on the table. No problem again, but not what I expected for a high end steakhouse.
Then I needed a napkin and had to flag someone down for one. Again, got what I wanted cheerfully, but had to ask. It's not Starbucks, so I was surprised this wasn't all offered when I was brought my food.
They did offer ketchup with the fries so points for that.
When I was asked how it all was and I politely said all was good but the vegetables were tasty but cold. And I got a "thank you for the feedback". That's fine, but usually I'm used to staff making apologies when things aren't too notch. It didn't bother me but I was surprised given the type of place it was.
At the end I was left waiting quite a while. I eventually went to ask someone about paying as I'd been sat alone for a while clearly finished. She then told me I had to pay at the front.
When I mentioned politely that I'd been waiting a while as I didn't realise we had to go to the front to pay, I just got an "ohh" response. No attempt to make good of it or apologize.
All staff were seemingly doing their very best, but at this level they need training so that their good intentions can be put into action.
On the whole the food was good and if I was the owner I'd want to know these things so I could give the whole team some training to improve on things. But it requires taking responsibility and that's hard to do as an owner or manager. It's not the fault of the staff as they were all consistently the same (Well meaning but not sure how to handle things) which means it's a training issue.
I hope this is taken as the positive feedback it is meant so that you can put the comments in action and do a really great job, instead of what's happening at the moment. If things change I'd be willing to give it another go. Let's see what happens....
Read moreThis is my first time here, overall conclusion is, this is NOT an authentic steak house for steak lovers despite naming themselves steak hub. More like a general western restaurant serving a great variety of dishes. Other dishes are fine, but the steak is disappointing. I believe because we are the last customer entering at 9pm, thats why they have a very sloppy performance. Quality Control of food and services is very disappointing.
Ordered the wagyu and here are things to take note before you dine here: They will marinate your steak with their own sauce First of all, it is a RM300 piece of steak, and the meat is not properly frozen, therefore the meat is not that fresh. After choosing the meat, they DO NOT explain how they will cook your steak. You get to choose from 3 types of sauce served on the side, which you will assume that the steak wont be cooked with sauce. But instead, they marinate your steak in a sweet barbecue sauce, and grilled your steak with more of that sauce, as you can see in the photo, the steak is coated with a thick layer of extremely sweet bbq sauce where you cant even taste the meat itself. And it even defeats the purpose of letting you choose the sauce to be served along it. I choose the mushroom sauce, the sauce is extremely salty and concentrated where you wont taste any mushroom but complete saltiness. It is a complete disgrace and a waste to the expensive piece of meat itself. It is also served with asparagus, the asparagus itself is over matured with a thick outer layer of fibres where you CANT chew on. Disappointing.
We also ordered a Angus Beef burger, the burger is great, patty is juicy and cooked to perfection. Flavouring and seasoning is balanced, good job on the burger.
Salt and pepper ARE NOT prepared for each table, so much for calling themselves a “steak hub” where they dont even have the basics.
Overall, it is a good restaurant ONLY IF you are ordering food other than their steaks. The rest of the menu actually have decent pricing.
Will come again, but will have to ask them to grill the wagyu with no seasoning. Wagyu’s fat comes with their own unique flavour, marinating it is a big no no. You can marinate the other cheaper steaks, but...
Read moreLocal chain steakhouse that had been steadily gaining fame for the past few years. Unless you come in a small group (like 2-3 pax), I think it would be best to call for reservations especially on weekends.
The fun part of the dining experience is that you get to visit the chiller and choose your own cut of meat. They had three different types- Angus, Grass-fed, and Grain-fed in ribs, striploin, ribeye, tenderloin, T-bone and tomahawk cuts. Each cut is vacuum-sealed with the weight and price stated clearly on the top. Once you've chosen, they'll ask how you want your steak to be cooked, and you can choose between three types of sauces- garlic, mushroom, and black pepper.
I went with the Grass-fed tenderloin, which often has a slightly sweet flavour to it, and asked for medium rare alongside the garlic sauce. The steak itself was absolutely delicious! Tender, meaty, and perfectly seasoned. My friend had the Grass-fed striploin, also medium rare, with mushroom sauce, and hers was slightly firmer compared to mine. The sauces tasted exactly the same despite the names.
We had a bit of confusion about the sides, because we weren't aware that the steak came with a side of mashed potatoes and salad. The server also didn't clarify when taking our order. When we saw the sides menu, we assumed (based on the prices) that we would have to order sides separately, so we asked for onion rings, curly fries, and mashed potatoes. That was a huge (literally!) mistake, because the portion size for the sides was shocking. Each side would probably serve 3-4 pax- the mashed potatoes especially, since there were 5 scoops. Everything tasted delicious and we made a valiant effort to finish them, but we had to pack the leftovers for takeaway.
As for the drinks, they had some interesting choices, but both of the ones we ordered were very average. I don't have much else to say about them. It would be great if they could serve complimentary plain water.
I'll probably visit again in the future if I'm craving...
