Visited on 24/12/24 early dinner at 6pm. The eatery was rather rowdy and we took up one of the last tables available. They mainly serve up herbal chicken broth at the table with induction pressure cooking pot and one can order other ingredients to add into the pot as desired. A half chīx Set for 2pax costed RM88 and included small plate of frozen pork slices and glass noodle and vegetables. The broth and fresh chix was really nourishing and warm our tummies. However felt the rest of the ingredients was very normalized and something we could just buy off supermarket shelves and cook at home. Moreover the auntie server there was rather rude and responded very crudely when we asked whether have sauce. She expected everyone that patronised are regular and aware that their sauce counter is all the way into the deep interior of the eatery.?! Hope that the boss can take note else other 1st timer patrons like us will not be visiting again due to such atrocious attitude by your staff over the simplest question. Will not recommend unless you like rowdy dining environment with rude service staff. Unsure why they are quite packed during dinnertime(there's many other dining places in e area with better food and service). Will have considered the broth and chīx not bad but not returning due to the nasty attitude and mediocre side...
Read moretried 小酒煱 XJW Cuisine, and it’s definitely a spot worth considering if you enjoy hearty, comforting soups. The drunken chicken soup was the highlight — flavourful and rich without any MSG. What I liked was that you can actually customize the amount of Chinese wine added into your soup. If you prefer it mild, just go for 1–2 portions, but if you enjoy a stronger kick, you can add more. It’s the perfect kind of food to have on a rainy day. That said, while the first few mouthfuls were amazing, the flavour did start to feel a bit too strong for me over time — but I still enjoyed it overall. The ingredients provided were fresh, though nothing particularly unique or special. Still, they paired well with the soup and made the experience satisfying. One thing to note is that this place is very popular, so if you’re planning to visit during weekday evenings or weekend afternoons, you’ll definitely need to make a reservation. Overall, XJW Cuisine is a great place for comforting drunken chicken soup, especially if you like customisable flavours and a cozy...
Read moreWas hunting for hotpot place but wanted something different for a hotpot experience.
Ordered set A with half a chicken together with the hotpot, the chicken was cooked by the staff for around 3 minutes and then the staff added some alcohol and served us soup and let us try if the alcohol level was ok.
Staff wasn’t hesitant to add more alcohol when asking to top up the soup.
The chicken was really tender and had a good amount of meat to fat ratio. If I knew the chicken was so good I’d have ordered one whole chicken. Soup wise, it’s towards the sweet side, contains a lot of dried longan, sweet dates to make it sweeter.
Definitely a good experience with quality service provided by staff, they will help you adjust the heat from time to time depending on what you are eating.
Recommended to eat the chicken first then hotpot dishes so that the alcohol won’t evaporate.
What’s more there is also a sauce station that is...
