Americano (Hot, No Sugar) = RM12.90 No Additional Service Charge
Located within Avery Day, this is one of the Earliest Eatery that opens at 9.00am before City Square Mall Official Opening Time of 10.00am. Another Cafe thats trying to be another Faux Starbucks. Feels Very Stifling Warm inside at 9.00am.
Some Google Reviewers are right, there is a Front Serving Female Pinoy Staff here and she really has a Very Angry-Looking 死人臭脸. She gave me the impression that she really didn't like her job. Even when I tried to Smile and Greet her, all she ever did was give me an Angry Looking Side-Eye.
It was a Very Uncomfortable Feeling with her Angry Side-Eye and she had such a 死人臭脸 that I tried breaking the ice and asked her directly "Are you Angry with Me?"
Only at this point she immediately reacted and replied a "No lah" and became slightly more Self-Conscious. But still I never saw any Further Attempts at Customer Service Recovery, and I never once saw her Smile the Whole Time I was there.
Americano (Hot, No Sugar) = RM12.90
It took about 2 Mins for me to Self-Collect. Served in a Slightly Larger Cup. The Coffee Strength is there although not the Super Strong until Smack you Awake type. As I mentioned, I'm not a Coffee Connoisseur so I really can't tell if there's anything special about this. To me, this just tastes like a Very Average Standard Americano Coffee.
Pro Tip: As I mentioned, this place felt Very Stifling Warm, Humid and Stuffy because the Mall's Airconditioning was not turned on. What I recommend is to take your Beverage and go OUTSIDE of the Cafe to sit down in a Cute Little Tentage Seating they have Alfresco Style. You can see how it looks like in my Photo Collection.
That said, this Alfresco Tentage Seating is right next to the Mall's Carpark Exit where Cars regularly drive by so be prepared to smell Car Exhaust Smoke. But its still Much More Cooling compared to having to endure sitting Uncomfortably in that Stifling Stuffy Interior facing a 死人臭脸 Staff who is obviously not happy with her Job.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
As you can see, the Prices of Items in the Menu are Not Cheap, but given that this is trying to be a Faux Starbucks I can still accept it because it is in a Mall after all. What I cannot accept is the Poor Customer Service Quality of that Pinoy Lady Staff.
As a Front Facing Staff, when a Customer approach you at the Counter, the Basic Thing is to drop whatever you are doing and always be ready to take order with at least a Simple Smile.
Busy cleaning your Cup and have the Customer stand and wait while looking at you at the Counter for at least 1 min and end up getting an Angry Side-Eye is just Poor Customer Service.
I was actually ready to order some other items from the Menu but her Attitude Completely Killed off whatever Mood I had. Although she was never Hostile to me, it was clear she didn't want to serve me at all. She looked like she is either Very Angry or Troubled at some Personal Issues.
This Cafe is decently reviewed in Google Maps, although there are some that commented about the Poor Customer Service. I guess I was Unlucky that day.
I'm sorry but I cannot recommend this place due to my Personal Experience here. It has been awhile since i've given my Lowest Score. Not a place I would return to again i'm afraid, I hope you have a better experience here than I did.
That said, be nice. Even though I did not like this place, it is still Basic Courtesy to bring my Empty Cup back into the Cafe after I was done with drinking it outside Alfresco Style.

Read moreDropped by Faculty of Caffeine at City Square Mall because they were one of the few cafés open early. I got the Pistachio Latte (RM19.90) and Basque Cheesecake (RM24.90), but honestly... both were a bit of a letdown, especially considering the price.
The pistachio latte looked really cool with the pistachio paste spread inside and outside the glass, but that’s kind of where the excitement ended. The paste wasn’t mixed into the drink at all, so it just tasted like a regular latte—with a fancy price tag. I tried scraping the paste off and stirring it in myself, but it didn’t dissolve at all. In the end, I just ate the paste on its own, which felt weird. Definitely expected more pistachio flavor throughout the drink.
The Basque cheesecake looked amazing at the counter, but the slice I got looked like it had the bottom cut off. Maybe it’s a slicing technique thing, but it really took away from the presentation. Taste-wise, it was okay—creamy, smooth, pretty much what you’d expect from a Basque cheesecake—but again, at RM24.90, I hoped for a little more finesse.
Not saying it was terrible, but for the price, I think things could’ve been better executed. Would be great if they fine-tuned the details a bit—especially with the drinks and...
Read moreLatest review now at the corner exit of CitiSquare Mall towards Komtar. Operating timing is 9am - 10pm daily.
It is a small place with 20-25 ppl max and are shared location with a mini super mart. Though it is clean and cool enough to hide from the hot weather.
We ordered Americano and Peachy Macchiato, both drinks are great but very limited choice tbh. Didn’t try their pastries as we just had lunch.
Price wise is expected of a cafe near customs.
This review was 4 years ago at their old outlet:
2nd time here and I can vouch the service is now way way better from the last visit. Much more improvement and very friendly by the Filipino service staffs.
This time we had the Breakfast Platter, Fried Chicken Sandwhich and Maze Ramen. All the portion are just enough and the taste are lovely.
Recommend to come give it a try but be early on a weekend (for breakfast) or you have to wait as it gets crowded fast...
