Lovely place! Varieties of food choices. Its a mix between taking whatever you want at the front table or order through menu. We took the nasi dagang, nasi lemak and some kuih. - nasi dagang terengganu - tak sedap. Kuah had sour taste, fish i think not so fresh does not taste good. But rice was lembut. And another-good thing it had acar timun which to me is a must for nasi dagang. Side promo: Grannies nasi dagang is better tho my sister swears nasi dagang bek woh in melawati is so far the best she ever tried (but this is kelantan nasi dagang so cant really compare lol) - nasi lemak bungkus telur mata or kerang - not sure of the kerang but nasi lemak was better than the nasi dagang. Quite good. - lempeng pisang with kelapa sedap! - popiah sira and the kuih cara sedap! - roti canai - didnot manage to try as it took ages for it to siap, so we had it cancelled - drinks - kopi tarik i think was good because they finished it all lol but my teh tarik tak sedap (i tasted some burnt taste but maybe it was just me, me no like) Service- some staff was nice and friendly, a few blur, one was not so accomodating - we were a bit tercangak bangak when arriving looking for place to sit but he just made muka ketat at the counter - if boss or no boss dont care but at least you should greet your guest with smile (better give fake one then none) regardless busy ke apa. He was just at the counter hmpftt. Another time i had to ask about our roti canai also at tbe counter but ok je another staff jawab nice pulakk tuu kann. There were lots of staff so you need to know who to call out to order, else you just have to wait until some one comes over. Those who sends your food and drinks dont take order nor will they call anyone for you 😂 But then again we came on a weekend and a quite late at that - i think it was after 830 close to 9am. It opens at 7am - maybe next time can come earlier (yes, worth coming again for the ambiance hehe) When we came, the muka ketat staff said the few tables that we wanted to go to were already reserved but didnt really send or help to find us any tables. The thing is we actually called earlier to reserve, they were the ones who said no need. So i think better reserve je lah. Luckily they gave up one of the reserved table. When we were done eating and to go off, i did saw some new guest waiting at the fron of the shop - maybe waiting to be seated - i hope they dont have to wait there forever lol since there was literally no staff there. Parking - it has a front and back parking - which you gotta pay i think rm10. Just paylahhhh dont complainn - at least u get parking right in front of the shop! They have quite a number of ppl managing the parking, just be patient. No i wasnt driving lol if it were me, id be stressed sebb space quite tight As mentioned above, yes i would come again - for the ambiance and to try the other menus (and for the time being just ignore any of the rude/blur staff so it wont kacau your mood) Also, becareful with one of the walkway with the rocks. Someone who was wearing flat shoes fell and twisted her ankle right in front of me! And my sister said her colleague also fell during her previous visit.

We were driving early this morning to find a place for lunch with mom. Passing by the Weld we saw this place which is quite empty at that time. After going around KLCC area, we decided to drop by for breakfast. The parking is already almost full when we arrived 20 minutes later. However, the parking jockey is making it easy for us to park our car. Entering their premise, the usherer sent us to our table which is at the back of the bungalow. There are many tables with various sizes for different number of pax. THey also have gazebo and also private room should you need one. The system is you go around choosing what to eat and then bring to the table. Drinks are ordered at the table and they will calculate the price of your food. Breakfast menu is quote okay, you can have dishes from East Coast such as laksam, nasi dagang and nasi kerabu. There is also nasi lemak with condiments and not to forget our usual roti canai. At the center of the outlet in front of the cashier, they put local kueh for you to choose. We had nasi lemak with paru and sotong, nasi dagang with daging and some kueh. I should have stick to my first intention of having laksam. Their nasi kerabu is tasty and the serving is generous. Nasi lemak is also very tasty but the sambal is on the sweet side. Kueh seri muka and kolek kacang is also nice but I recommend their popia sira. Crispy outside and soft in the fillings. Price is reasonable for the taste and serving size. And also their ambience. Will be coming again to try their lunch menus.

I had the pleasure of dining at this Malay restaurant in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, housed in a beautifully maintained old bungalow with ample space. The setting is clean, spacious, and airy, creating a comfortable atmosphere for a delightful dining experience. The staff were not only very helpful but also incredibly friendly. They took the time to explain the recommended dishes and the ordering process, making the entire experience welcoming and informative. The lunch spread offered a diverse selection of hot cooked dishes, with some made to order right on the spot. The use of fresh ingredients was evident, particularly in the fish and chicken dishes, which were remarkably fresh and expertly seasoned with a tantalizing blend of spices. I particularly enjoyed the ikan masin, ayam goreng berempah, asam pedas tenggiri, and sambal tempeh; each dish was a burst of authentic Malay flavors. I left with a sense of anticipation, looking forward to trying the masak lemak during my next visit. This restaurant not only provides a wonderful setting to savor genuine local cuisine but also offers a chance to connect with the community and experience the warm and welcoming Malaysian hospitality. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy the true essence of Malay culinary traditions. To avoid queuing and waiting for a table, I’ve reserved via WhatsApp the day before, which was also pleasant and easy.

Disappointing First Impression – Rude Indian Parking Attendant

I had high expectations for Banglo 289, given its beautiful ambiance and decent food, but my experience was completely tainted by an unprofessional and rude parking attendant.

I visited for lunch on February 5, 2025, at 11 AM, and what should have been a pleasant dining experience quickly turned frustrating the moment I arrived. The restaurant’s parking situation is a nightmare, and the attendant made it even worse. Despite parking in a normal space (not jockey parking), he demanded my car keys, claiming it was necessary due to limited space. I politely declined, offering instead to move my car if needed and am willing to pass him my mobile no but his response was shockingly unprofessional.

Instead of handling the situation courteously, he spoke roughly and made a condescending remark, saying that people like me shouldn’t come here. This was my first visit, and that’s the welcome I received? No customer should ever be treated this way.

When I raised my concerns with the restaurant’s management, they distanced themselves, claiming the parking area is not their responsibility. However, what they fail to realize is that this parking attendant is actively driving customers away from their establishment. If an employee working right outside your entrance is turning guests away with rude behavior, that absolutely affects your business.

It’s a shame because Banglo 289 has potential, but first impressions matter, and mine was ruined before I even stepped inside. A restaurant is not just about food, it’s about the overall experience. If management does not address this issue, they will continue losing customers before they even get a chance to dine.

Would I return? Not unless they take action to ensure all guests are treated with...

I recently made my second visit to Banglo 289 Cafe, and I must say, my experience was a mixed bag of emotions.

Upon entering the cafe, I was greeted warmly by the hostess, which was a pleasant start to my visit. The servers who took and served our order were polite and efficient, adding to the positive atmosphere.

As for the food, we ordered a variety of dishes. The Big Breakfast Poached Eggs were decent, although the poached eggs could have used a bit more vinegar. However, the sausage was a delight - well-cooked and moist.

Unfortunately, the Roti Tip Tap was a letdown. It was overly dry and lacked the expected taste and texture. Similarly, the Nasi Dagang was disappointing. The fish gravy was sourish and lacked the aromatic flavors I was anticipating.

The Pulut Panggang was another dish that didn't quite hit the mark. It seemed poorly prepared and didn't meet my expectations.

However, what truly marred my experience was the incident with the chili sauce. I requested a small serving of chili sauce, but was given the runaround by the server and the kitchen crew. The server pointed me to the kitchen, and vice versa. Their attitude was far from professional, and I felt as though I was being a nuisance. To add insult to injury, I never did receive the chili sauce.

In conclusion, while the cafe has potential, my experience was tainted by a few disappointing dishes and poor service. I hope they take this feedback into consideration and improve their offerings and service. After all, the essence of a good cafe lies not just in its food, but also in the warmth and efficiency of its service.
