I got this delivered to a nearby bar so I cannot review the restaurant itself. The staff who delivered the food went to great lengths to make ensure it was presented properly, so I suspect their service in-house is equally impressive.
Great Middle Eastern fare with a variety of both more familiar dishes and ones you may not have heard of before.
For an appetizer I tried their Mutabbal, something new to me but delicious. Similar to hummus but with a slightly different flavor and texture. The appetizer size was easily enough to share between several people and came with three small cakes of round, puffy flatbread.
Although the Kufta Trays were tempting, I opted for Lamb Sidr and was not disappointed! The server upended the silver serving dish containing the biryani rice and the slow roasted lamb. The rice was a little wetter than others I've had but delicious and not quite as spicy as some biryanis can be. The lamb came in four large chunks (although two were as much bone as meat) and the meat fell off the bones easily. Very tender and flavorful.
For good measure I also ordered two extra pieces of flatbread called tameez. These were huge and even with help I could only eat one of them (plus some of the smaller flatbread that came with the Muttabal).
All told this was easily enough food to split two or even three ways. There were enough other options that I plan to try it again sometime and order different things. Definitely great food at fairly...
Read moreThis is a truly impressive and beautiful restaurant — spacious, elegant, and stylish in a way that feels quite rare for Kuala Lumpur. The furniture and interior design are on the luxurious side, making it a perfect spot for a business meeting or even a date. Everything feels fresh, new, and thoughtfully designed.
One of the highlights is the menu itself — it’s huge, like a full-on book. It’s richly illustrated with large, vibrant photos for every single dish, which makes browsing through it a really enjoyable experience. There are so many options, and the visual presentation helps a lot when choosing what to try.
Service is calm and non-intrusive — which I really appreciated. Sometimes you even have to flag down the staff, which I personally prefer when you’re having a conversation and don’t want to be interrupted. They’ll bring everything you need, but they leave you in peace.
The food portions are generous — I ordered a pilaf, and it was huge. I couldn’t finish it, and I’m not a small guy. The fresh juices are amazing and quite creative — they even had avocado juice, which was more like a smoothie with syrup options. Sounds strange, but it was absolutely delicious.
Overall, it’s a fantastic place to dine. A little more expensive than average, but still very reasonable. We had a full, satisfying meal for two for around 150 MYR. Highly recommend checking it out —...
Read moreWent there for a company function last night. This was the second time I tried Arabic food and I have to say both experiences were very good! The food at Yahala Restaurant, Chulan is fantastic! Their signature mixed grill was served in the biggest dish I have seen and it is definitely very suitable for communal type of occasion like this. The chicken, lamb, beef and fish were very authentic and flavourful. When the food is served warm, you could taste the fragrant and sweetness of the ingredients. The menu selection is also wide and you choices from seafood to veggie to beef, chicken and lamb. My favourite is actually the lamb chop as the flavour is unmistakable. Several of us also ordered the Strawberry juice. It tasted natural without addition of sugar! The service is also very prompt and attentive. I would probably visit it more often if I live in Kuala...
